The Vater brand was officially established in November of 1991, but the Vater family history with drumsticks started decades earlier, in the basement of Boston's legendary Jack's Drum Shop. There, Alan and Ron's grandfather Jack Adams, hand turned drumsticks for the drummers like Buddy Rich as early as 1956. In the early to mid 1980's, the Vater brothers began producing private-label drumsticks alongside sticks for Vic Firth and Zildjian. A few years of this led to the brothers deciding to move their business to a new factory in Holbrook MA. Over the past decade, the Vater family and product line has expanded greatly, introducing innovative products such as the Splash Stick and Acoustic, and welcoming renowned drummers like Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, and Josh Freeze. At Vater, our goal is simple. . . to produce the very best drumsticks and percussion accessories in the world.

I had looked at many nylon brushes and found Vater made the best brushes for my use. The handles are sturdy and I expect I will get many years of satisfaction from them.

Sadly, by the time I finally needed these, the return policy had expired. We were mid jam & without warning, all of the bristles exploded from the handle. I'll admit that it is funny now, and we finished the song, but the glue must've been lacking as all of the plastic bristles were released onto the stage at once, like a shower of dry spaghetti.

Been using these for like ten years now, just because someone randomly had them in a stick case I inherited. Didn’t think much of them at first, and now they are a staple in my stick bag. Even if you aren’t someone who uses brushes, these are a great tool for low-do music, low volume scenarios and they just have a unique character.Cons are, if you play hard (overplay) with them and bang up the metal piece that binds the brush to handle, they will fall apart and be ruined.

In order to gain the control and timbre I imagined, I wrapped the bristles with two very thin rubber bands meant for hairstyling. Great product otherwise.

Just seconding the other reviews here. And I don't play that hard. The previous pair I had for like ten years. I was playing a song and a bristle fell out, then another, and then the whole thing just exploded all over the drumset. Obvs cutting quality to save a penny and more profit for the company. Sad.I'm not sure if the original ones I had had a rubber cover for the metal part and it wore out and I applied tape, or I just applied the tape, but I suspect that having the metal part contact the hoop is what made the new ones fall apart.

I am not a professional and I don't claim to know how to play at all. That being said- these are my favorite sticks. They just sound great, and I'm still on my first pair almost a year later.

Hi, as other reviewers have said, they play fast and have great spring response. But, after a few shows of light playing they started falling apart. The white strands began to fall out on the floor and boy was I surprised. These would be 5 stars but have no durability at all. Perhaps mine are defective but i would think twice about buying these. Sorry, I love Vader sticks but these have issues.
