I had to modify it a bit because I ordered the wrong handle but I am very happy with it.

I've owned Dalluge hammers since the late '80s, and they were always the best framing hammers on the job site. The replacement handles were top-notch as well. This handle splits easily when inserting the metal wedges, so use caution and expect mediocre results at best. Since Dalluge was bought out by Vaughan, the products are not what they used to be.

I have the Dalluge Decking Hammer and have been using them for years. It was time I got another hammer as back up. So I did in Aug 2015. I started thinking I should have a replacement handle around as well, so in late Jan-2016 I ordered one, but didn't look closely at it. Well it's April and my older hammer broke. No problem. I pulled out my new one and didn't miss but 2 minutes of work. That evening went to put the replacement handle on the broken hammer and looked at it closely and it isn't straight grain like both my other hammers have or had. At the thinnest part of the handle it veers to the outside and looks like a branch of the tree it came from grew through it (the grain of the wood). It'll clearly break there on the first use. Just like the other review. It's to late to return it. So I'll have to eat the cost. Vaughn Tools now owns Dalluge and their hammer handles have always been flawless. As an aside, I've used Vaughn wood handle hammers for 20 years before discovering Dalluge hammers. DO NOT PURCHASE Dalluge handles.

Ok quality not the best grane pattern for a striking hammer.Poor finish for being made in the USA.Made it work with some modifications.Would not buy againUpdate! Handle broke in less then a year with medium use. I refit it in the head and broke once more. Going with better brand.
