We got these for our front porch and walkway to help keep snow and ice off of it for visitors and deliveries. They work really well, and connect easily together. YOu can link them up almost endlessly to create custom areas to treat. THESE DO NOT HAVE A POWER CORD/CONTROLLER. It is sold separately. I assume because most of these packs will be bought to link to another already plugged in mat, and having a $40 controller in each set would raise the price unnecessarily. Plan to use these often during the winter months and our delivery drivers already love them.

This pretty much works as advertised. It is heavy and will not blow away as we get triple digit winds where I live. Plugged it in indoor at 60 F ambient, got to 77 F after 5 minutes or so and an hour reached about 105 F near power source end to about 125 F near the other end.My primary use of this is to clear an area outside an astronomical observatory dome where the entrance is north facing and ice stays around for a long time. Figure 1 shows what happened after we got 3-4†of snow. Top left is photo before snow, the rest are photos after 1 hour (nothing much has happened), 2.5 hours, and 5 hours. Part of the mat is dry at that point (figure 2). Notably the surrounding snow temperature was only 3 F, while the mat temperature varied between ~40 F to 55 F depending on where I measured with an infrared thermometer.I expect to keep this on for a few hours at a time. At less than 10 cents/kWh around here (sorry California) it is not costly to run, about 75 cents a day if you run it 24 hours.I am a bit puzzled about this company. They seem to distribute, rather than manufacture, everything from these mats to bird cages to stripper poles. Makes me wonder how good customer service is in case of problems. I note this because there appears to be slop involved in making these. It took two wrenches to get the plastic environmental cap off the power cable (and the other end of the yellow connector in figure 3 could not be seated all the way in); the company label was only partly adhered (figure 4); the manual was all crumped up in the box (figure 5); and the manual contained a completely nonsensical plot (figure 6). Not deal breakers but makes you wonder what else they are sloppy about…

I recently purchased the VIVOHOME 10" x 38" Snow Melting Mat, and it has been a very effective addition to my winter routine. Here’s why I’m giving it a solid 4-star rating:**Efficient Snow Melting:**This heated mat does an excellent job of melting snow and ice quickly. I placed it at the entrance of my home, and it has kept the walkway clear during recent winter storms. It’s reassuring to know I can step outside without worrying about slipping.**Durable Design:**The 0.35" thickened SBR rubber construction feels sturdy and well-made. It withstands the elements well, and I appreciate that it remains flexible even in colder temperatures. The robust material gives me confidence that it will last for multiple seasons.**Grounding Wires:**The inclusion of grounding wires is a thoughtful feature, adding to the safety of using the mat outdoors. It helps ensure that the mat operates efficiently while reducing any risk of electrical issues.**Versatile Use:**This mat is not just limited to walkways; I’ve found it useful in various outdoor areas, such as patios and driveways. It provides great coverage and is convenient for keeping high-traffic areas accessible throughout winter.**A Minor Concern:**The only reason I’m not giving it a full five stars is that the power cord is not included, which I found a bit inconvenient. I had to purchase a compatible power cord separately, which added to my initial setup time and cost.**Overall Satisfaction:**Overall, the VIVOHOME Snow Melting Mat has exceeded my expectations in performance and durability. It’s a practical solution for managing snow and ice during the winter months. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an effective way to keep their walkways safe and accessible!

This 2 pack of 10" x 38"of snow melting mats are nice quality, well made, and easy to set up. We have another mat like this that we were able to connect/hook up to, so we didn't have to worry about it not having a power cord. Our front steps are always an issue during winter since it always accumulates ice due to the lack of gutters but since we rent, we can't put one up, nor will our landlord. The mailman refuses to deliver out mail when the ice is present but sometimes we can't put salt out due to not being home. These mats will be a huge life saver.

This works really well. The snow melted really fast where we laid it down and stayed gone.

So, the quality on these mats is actually very good. This is my fourth snow melting pad and by far these are higher quality than the others. Unfortunately, I can't test them to see how well they work as they don't come with a power cord. I do not remember seeing that these didn't come with a power cord when I ordered them. I'm not sure if I just missed it or if the listing changed after I ordered them, I ordered on January 1st. Either way, at this price point a power cord should come with them. We shouldn't have to spend an additional $37 dollars for a power cord. So, as it stands now, I can't use these at all.

My one gripe about these is that the power cords are a separate purchase. Seriously?Otherwise yes they are a good option to keep ice from walkways w/o resorting to the ice melts which will likely damage your walkway.

I'm unable to use this product without purchasing a separate power cord.Power cords should be provided.
