Sits three inches below mid-knee or evening length with a fitted bodice, slightly gathered at front and tucked at back into waistline; full-length sleeves have pointed cuffs with button trim; with or without pointed collar, topstitch trim. Fit and flare skirt and attached tie ends that tie at side front or center back. Vogue pattern kits come with pattern pieces for cutting out the fabric, step by step written and illustrated instructions to guide you through the sewing process, and information on how to select fabric and trims plus sizing information. Included patterns can be made to fit misses' sizes 6-8-10-12-14 (authentic vintage reproduction includes additional size options and cutting layouts). Fabric suggestions include soft fabrics such as Challis, Chambray, Pongee, Surah, single knits such as Wool, and Cotton Jersey. Interfacing: lightweight fusible or non-woven. I was very happy to be able to purchase this pattern, a classic in its day. I had the original pattern but the size was for a 20 something me. There are some simple changes in construction that I noticed in reading through it but I have not made the dress yet.

It’s a reprint from 1972. It’s a Vogue pattern just as you would expect. I made the dress and love it so much that I just ordered the alternative version V2040 as well. Now my daughter wants one too.

These dresses go anywhere. The trick is to use the right fabric and change up the details to make them unique. This pattern is a great basic starting point.
