We have gifted a few of these to good friends. We've been through several of these ourselves (the original Silver metal model) over the last three decades-they will replace parts to keep yours going until you actually wear it out. Use the Whirley Pop and popcorn package with popping corn, seasoning and oil to make popcorn at home that is as good (and often better) than that great stuff at the theater. The pan is lightweight aluminum, with the twirly mechanism a bit heavier metal construction. The gear drive that makes the twirl when you crank the handle is plastic, but if you're using the popper properly (or would that be popperly-gotta love onamotopoeia?), the top doesn't get overly hot and they last a long time. The wooden handle and crank knob are cool retro looking. Emptying into the bowl is very straightforward and simple to do. Shouldn't take but a few seconds, certainly not long enough to burn any of the popped corn in the pot.Do a great popcorn and a movie evening at home for less than the cost of about two trips to the movie theater for two people-It takes about 3-4 minutes to do on the stove top, and properly used, there are very few "old maids" and almost no over-cooked corn.If you use the Whirley Pop Popper with the great popcorn Whirley Pop sells, a fantastic overall product.(Note: We have only owned the original model Whirley Pop Popper, but we see that they do now offer several more substantial models in stainless and copper, and even an over-the-fire model. We'll probably try out one of those when our current one wears out, which may be a while. We do really enjoy and recommend their products.)

I absolutely love my Whirley Pop Popcorn Maker! The quality of this popper is top-notch. The metal gears are incredibly durable, which gives me confidence that this popcorn maker will last for years to come. It's so easy to use—even with minimal effort, I get perfect popcorn every single time! One of the best features is the quality of the popcorn it makes. There are very few unpopped kernels, and I've never experienced any burnt popcorn—just light, fluffy, and delicious results every time. The stirring mechanism does a fantastic job of evenly distributing the heat, which ensures each kernel pops perfectly. You can use just popcorn and oil or if you like theater style corn there are a number of kits you can buy on Amazon that will give you type of popcorn.Cleanup is a breeze, too! With its simple design, I can easily wipe it down in minutes, making it convenient for regular use. If you're a popcorn lover like me, the Whirley Pop is a must-have for your kitchen!

Just get one. It makes perfect popcorn. It's fast. No junk ingredients either. Really only about 3 minutes to make a batch. No leftover kernels. Turn the crank slowly, you're not churning butter. When it's too hard to turn, stop. Take it off the heat. Wait till all popping stops. About 15 seconds. Immediately put it in a bowl. Having it sit in the steamy pot will make the kernels chewy.REGISTER YOUR WARRANTY on the whirly pop website. It is a 25 year warranty. And, they will offer you 2 more popcorn kits, recipes, a catalog and a movie night pack with 4 paper popcorn tubs for $8.00 shipping.

Were it not for it's alarmingly flimsy construction, this baby would be a 5-star review! The pieces all fit together, at least, and the top comes off if you want to wash it (I just wipe mine out really well) but the prongs on the inside that stir the popcorn were funny. When I'd turn the handle, they'd scrape part of the side of the pot. I'm not sure if they were off-center or what, but I bent them with my fingers, ever so slightly and now they clear the sides just fine.I'm not sure if I've got too much oil in the pot or what (I didn't get any directions with mine) but when the popcorn starts popping, the oil spits out the little vents on the top and along the seams of the cover. Putting a wet dishrag over the openings where the crank handle is keeps my arms from getting burned by flying, hot oil.The plastic gears along the top don't look like they'll hold up very well for any length of time, but it's noticeably harder to crank when the popcorn is done, so I quit cranking and they've been fine thus far. I don't make popcorn every day, but it doesn't take that long to whip up a batch using the Whirley-Pop.I think if I had it to do over again, I'd spring for the Stainless Steel version with metal gears. I suspect that it would probably last longer, but so far this one has been fine. Like I said, I don't make much popcorn, but if I did, the metal gears would probably last longer.I haven't tried any of the popcorn that came with my popper. I have a local brand that I prefer and that pops up great! I find I don't even have to add butter or oil after popping - there's enough to keep it from being dry and sticking in my throat, but it's not greasy or soggy at all.I really like my Whirley-Pop, cheapo construction could be better, but the popcorn is amazing!

This is a very easy way to make popcorn almost as fast as microwave and you can control the flavoring better

Is it as handy as microwave popcorn? No. But it tastes better, is just as fast, and is way healthier. Clean up is a bit of a pain. But I use this quite a bit and am happy that I purchased it.

This one had metal gears as opposed to plastic. They’re the reason I needed a new one! Well done. Love this thing. Now it’s even better.

Like it popcorn is good and like the fact that the gear is metal. My old one is plastic which is why i ordered a new one. Old popper was over 20yrs so they last.

I've had one of these popcorn poppers for over 55 years now. NO one makes them like Wabash Valley Farms! Always the best and always good quality poppers - consistent popping all the time. This is my third one (they will replace under warranty, but my last one reached the 25yrs before it died).
