Serious upgrade from stock antenna on CS700. Using stock I could barely hear local repeater and no way could I hit it, but with this one, I can reach the repeater and hear it full scale. Definitely worth it!

First, I have to say that I'm an HT addict! I own upwards of (30) radios for GMRS & HAM. I stumbled on to this antenna a few months ago and they have roughly the same performance as the "most expensive" brands. When I say roughly, I mean very close in terms of gain and SWR readings on a Nano-VNA. I should also note that to get accurate SWR readings, you can't just screw the antenna directly onto the Nano-VNA. Instead, you should screw it into a ground plane or magnet mount. I've seen a few reviews with inaccurate SWR numbers due to not having a proper ground plane. Also, the "AI generated" reviews just sound silly. With some of the new HAM & GMRS radios costing only $25 - $30, why spend upwards of $20 on just the antenna? I started out buying the more expensive brands, but after a while it became impractical as my radio collection grew and grew. Don't get me wrong, I don't regret buying the expensive ones, nor am I arguing against them, it's just that these work great at a fraction of the cost. So far, I've had no issues with these. I'll report back with any new information worth sharing.Update on 7/20/24:I've used these antennas for several months on a magnet mount when off-roading and on the highway, with no issues at all.Update on 11/06/24:Here we are 4 months after my last update and the antennas are still holding up. I have both the HAM and the GMRS versions of this antenna. If your new inexpensive radio doesn't come with a "771 style" antenna, then I highly recommend these.

These antennas work great, because they are tuned for GMRS. A good buy

I measured the length of the antenna at 14.75 inches which is below the standard 15.3". However, I don't know if there is a coil in the base. I can easily contact a repeater that is 6 miles away (while sitting in my apartment) and someone replying to a radio check said I'm loud and clear on my Baofeng UV-5R GMRS radio. I also receive other calls very clear. The antenna is very flexible and can be bent without damage. Unfortunately, I don't have a SWR meter to test but I'm happy with it.

I have (2) Wouxun KG-905G GMRS radios. They came with a stock stubby antenna which I measured at 1.4 and 1.5:1 SWR. When replaced with this portable GMRS antenna, my readings were 1.0 and 1.05:1. That is a perfect and near perfect match, you couldn't ask for better, especially at this price.

I bought a TWO-PACK of these and one worked and the other one was a direct short. So it a fifty-fifty chance of working, and you get what you pay for! Yep, you get three Bands, but not just exactly where they should be. There is nothing usable in the Amateur 2 meter band, or for MURS, but maybe for some public service or commercial work from 167 Mhz to 174 Mhz. The 1-1/4 meter band is usable from 206 Mhz to 231.5 Mhz; this is usable as an Amateur and or commercial 1-1/4 meter band antenna. The 70 Centimeter band is usable for the Amateur band 70 cm band from 420 Mhz. to 430 Mhz. For FRS/GMRS the SWR is way too high. Most handheld radios will tolerate up to a 3.0 SWR, be cautious if you go above that in SWR.So to sum it up, this is a Commercial 2 meter band antenna; and a usable Amateur 1-1/4 meter band antenna, and usable on the lower part of the Amateur 70 centimeter band.I used a Yaesu YS-500 SWR and Power meter good for 140 Mhz to 525 Mhz.2 Meter Band SWR=====================================165.000 Mhz => 3.55 SWR => Lower Band edge167.000 Mhz => 2.75 SWR167.500 Mhz => 2.65 SWR168.000 Mhz => 2.60 SWR => Primary Band Center169.000 Mhz => 2.65 SWR169.500 Mhz => 2.70 SWR170.000 Mhz => 3.00 SWR171.000 Mhz => 2.70 SWR => Secondary Band Center172.000 Mhz => 2.80 SWR174.000 Mhz => 2.80 SWR175.000 Mhz => 3.40 SWR => High band edge1-1/4 Meter Band SWR====================================206.000 Mhz => 2.00 SWR => High Band Edge210.000 Mhz => 1.95 SWR215.000 Mhz => 1.70 SWR219.000 Mhz => 1.45 SWR220.000 Mhz => 1.40 SWR221.000 Mhz => 1.40 SWR222.000 Mhz => 1.35 SWR => Primary Band Center222.500 Mhz => 1.40 SWR225.000 Mhz => 1.50 SWR230.000 Mhz => 1.70 SWR231.500 Mhz => 2.00 SWR => High Band Edge70 CM Band SWR=========================400.000 Mhz => 1.50 SWR410.000 Mhz => 1.35 SWR => Primary Band Center420.000 Mhz => 2.10 SWR430.000 Mhz => 3.50 SWR440.000 Mhz => 5.00 SWR450.000 Mhz => 6.00 SWR460.000 Mhz => 6.00 SWR462.500 Mhz => 4.60 SWR => FRS/GMRS -- Proceed with great Caution467.500 Mhz => 3.80 SWR => FRS/GMRS -- Proceed with great Caution470.000 Mhz => 3.70 SWR => Secondary Band CenterUPDATE: I did get the second antenna working, I had to file down the housing so it would seat fully. The build on these is just O.K., but not great, and not necessarily the best bang for the buck.
