It’s not a product fault, this type of wood splitter just has a lot of inherent limitations. It’s no better than a good hatchet, actually worse. It’s difficult to use, dangerous really, and messy (split wood falls to the ground and bounces).All that said, it’s OK for very a limited application: small non-hardwood tinder making. It looks cool next to an indoor fireplace, adding a functional rustic theme. More of a conversation piece than a useful implement. My opinion anyway.

Got this for my husband for Xmas- he just took up chopping wood after we installed a wood-burning fireplace in our house. He's really going to town. Splitting the kindling was a pain- this thing really helps him out. He just bolted it to a piece of wood we already had and leaves it on the ground, though I hope at some point he'll put in on the wall next to our wood pile. All in all a great product.

Performance is where this is lacking. It works as designed, but not efficiently. In my honest opinion spend your cash on a really good axe, you will get way more accomplished with the same or less effort. The build quality is good and the materials are good, its just not efficient.
