Bought this set for my husband as an anniversary present. He was completely blown away. He's had a smile on his face for days. This set replaced a very inexpensive set I bought years ago when that was all we could afford. The clock finally died and that's when I decided to replace the set. Couldn't be happier with the results.

As a sailor, I imagine an old brass clock, real heavy brass, made for the sea. I guess you can't find those except perhaps in some antique shop. I bought this clock because I had some shopping points accrued that allowed me to get it for about $70.00. Even at that price it's overpriced. Cosmetically it serves the purpose of a marine clock, but it is very cheaply made. The metal is very thin and I assume is finished in brass plating . This means that under marine conditions, the finish will likely fail as I have seen with other similar metals on the boat. The clockwork is simply one of those plastic, battery operated devices that you can buy for about 2.00 on E-Bay. Well, with the added function of the tide indicator, maybe it's worth more than 2.00. I'm glad I did not pay full price for this thing.

Do not waste your money. Purchased for my husband's birthday. Put batteries in and mounted it. NEVER KEPT ACCURATE TIME. Amazon is not allowing me to return this item. Horrible. Piece. of. Junk.

VERY disappointed . After 6 months the tide hand stopped working. We live on the water and fish alot so this is a bummer.
