My old solder station from my first real job is now 36 years old to me. It was several years old before that, and a couple of the locals techs cobbled this one together for me out of spare parts as a going away gift! In terms of longevity, best going away gift ever. Scientific Atlanta, 1988. That you again guys!This thing is so old, beat up, used and loved, I would never part with it. When I do need new tips - and the retention barrel for the tips which the old one just corroded away over time - I buy Weller. You should too.

After using it for a while the tip falls apart and breaks off. I may be doing something wrong though. Other than that it’s a good tip while it lasts.

Not bad for off-brand tips. All were uniform, no significant defects or alterations. Note: These tips are very long and thin, and as such do not retain heat very well. They are good for tiny pads/resistors, fine-pitched thin-lead surface mount chips, especially in crowded areas. They aren't very effective on anything much bigger, or for solder removal/wicking. May have to increase temp slightly for use.Note: The tip in the middle of the picture had been used slightly before talking, the others were straight from the bag.
