I took out my old Hakko brass sponge and went with these this time. They are a bit smaller (or maybe just wound tighter) but they do a good job.

As most Weller users will agree, they tend to be overpriced with a lot of their stuff. I nevertheless decided to purchase these originals rather than use questionable El Cheapo aftermarkets for my Weller brand holder (see my review of it with pics), which resides in my old Weller station sponge tray.You don't want to risk damage to your pricey tips by using the wrong alloy characteristics in a sponge, leading to frustration, extra expense and probably downtime. At least, I don't want to risk those things, so I'm willing to pony up extra dough for OEM items like this.There are enough cleaners in this pack to last most users a super long time.

I’m so glad I paid double for the name brand! Even a known mediocre brand like Weller is 1000x better than all the random junk you can find here on amazon when it comes to something like this. I jammed three of these pads into my standard-sized metal cup and it cleans my soldering iron better than it ever has before. I highly recommend this produce even at double the price of all the others!

First time using this style instead of wet sponge. Not bad. In theory these are better since it lets the iron tip stay more evenly hot where the wet sponge cools it. For poorly maintained tip, jabbing in/out of this metal sponge cleaned it up nicely. Some type of holder is a good suggestion to help it stay put during use.

They are what you’d expect from weller and this kinda item. They clean solder tips well, quickly disperses heat and solidifies solder, and last a good while. Decent price for the amount you get.
