I was a bit nervous about this after reading the directions, feeling like it was a bit complicated. Luckily, it’s pretty simple and works really well! I set it to 385°C and the solder is melted in seconds! Just make sure you read the directions and don’t just shut it off when you’re done with it. It has to cool itself down before it’s safe to shut off. Happy heating!

This is a nice desoldering tool. Heats up quickly and works well for small projects

solder didn’t show any signs of melting, other than that it seems to be fine using with smaller projects and lesser grade solder.

This think is pretty clunky and very basic, but that's what I paid for. It works! I don't know how LONG it will last, but it has managed about 10 hours of reflow work so far. I would guess the longest session of actual non-stop heat output has been about 2 hours continuous. It heats up to ~400ºC pretty fast (less than 30 seconds), and it appears to stay there quite well.My only complaints (and they're really mild): - the nozzle flanges are very tight, so much so that I do not attempt to force them all the way on; I just push the nozzle on until it sticks (about 1/4 of the way onto the "sleeve/cuff". - the auto-detect function, when you re-insert the tool into the holder/base is not very good; several times it did not detect and thus the tool kept running.. you have to fiddle with it to get it to "seat" and then it detects and goes into cool-down mode. - the tool does not "seat" well in the holder.. because the cord is so stiff, the tool inevitably ends up pointing down (at about a 30ª angle) toward my workbench.. so if the autodetect doesn't work... it ends up scorching the tabletop/workbench. So.. just keep an eye out for this and you'll be good to go.As a bonus, it is a GREAT heat-shrink tool! As a mini heat-gun, it works very well! Better and much cleaner than a lighter :-)NOTE: sometimes these reviews get rolled up with various products. I am referring to the one with this title:"WEP 8858-V Hot Air Rework Station Kit with Compact Size, Integrated Nozzle Holder, 3 Nozzles, 2 Tweezers, Adjustable Temperature& Air Volume, PID Program, °C/°F Conversion and More"Honestly, for the money, it's hard to beat.I try to update my reviews after several months to a year (or a bunch of usage) or so.. Expect updates. :-)

Bought this for heating up and de-soldering an HDMI port from the motherboard. It got hot enough for this task! Also, used it for back plate removal for an ipone10.
