This popcorn maker is perfect in every way. It has been updated so that the bowl fits right underneath the unit and is way more compact than it used to be but produces the same amount of popcorn. This one seems better made so that it won't crack like the old ones used to. And it only has the two pieces the lid and the base which make it a lot safer so that you don't burn yourself turning it over. This makes the freshest popcorn ever, and is comparable to popping it in a pan, but you don't have to shake this popcorn maker. I haven't had any burnt popcorn in this new design either. And it pops extra quick! It's very easy to use and very easy to clean you just wipe it out with a paper towel when you're done.

We had to replace our old popper after 10 years. Love the popper it's a new version of our old one. I like the top of the old one better. I believe this is the third replacement in 25 or 30 years. Part of me likes the cord as it stores on the bottom and part of me is not a fan of it. It cleaned up easy. My husband is the Master Popcorn Maker. We love our popper, whenever we have to replace one we just purchase whatever the new model is at the time. We'll never buy any other brand or type.

This review concerns the China made "West Bend Stir Crazy Hot Oil Popcorn Popper, Popcorn Maker Machine with Large Serving Bowl Lid and Stirring Rod, 6 Qt, Red", which is the "updated" model of the Stir Crazy popper (Amazon ASIN: B0CQ8V3R57).This popcorn popper does not work as advertised. It does not get hot enough to thoroughly pop popcorn. It never yielded more than 50 percent of the popped corn that our hot air popper yields (using the same amount of popcorn). I tried fresh, regular and premium popcorn and various amounts of canola oil. The popcorn was always chewing with most kernels under-popped. Besides the poor popping results, it is cheaply made particularly the lid and power cord, which would likely break with even careful, moderate use.Returned.

The popper lid is a bit thicker than the first Stir Crazy popper i bought over 10 years ago.Popcorn pops all but a few kernels. No burning. No smoke smell.Butter melts quickly.

We were looking to get a popcorn popping machine to switch over the healthier snack option and save money vs buy popped popcorn at snack aisle. I remembered the Westbend popcorn popping machines friends' families used to have years ago and figured they must be reliable and still in business. We have consumed four bags of popcorn so far and are very happy. It completes popping the kernels before the heating cycle over. There is no oily surface of popcorn. It's very easy to clean. One tip: One of the bags of corn kernels we consumed had some smaller size kernels. When we popped that bag we typically got 3-6 non popped kernels lodge under the steel turning blade. Not sure if this is a long term issue with operation of the machine. Now I eyeball the bags to try and pick uniform "larger" size kernels to avoid getting so many duds lodged under the turning blade. Larger kernels that don't pop are just stirred around by blade.

I bought this as a replacement for a well-loved Stir Crazy. We eat a lot of popcorn at our house, so our Stir Crazys get a lot of use. We are very satisfied with this one. There have been some changes to its shape and features over the years, but it works well, pops the corn, and we will continue to be loyal Stir Crazy users.

The efficiency of completely popped kernels is not what it used to be. Using the same brand of kernels I have always used, even freshly opened, produces mediocre results. Loads of unpopped kernels left over.I discovered a timer on the heating element that cuts off way too early to allow all the kernels to pop.I will not be purchasing this brand any longer. I stayed with this brand as it was what my grandparents had always used and had fantastic results as well.Such a shame that bottom line profit greed matters more than a quality product.

My original version of this oil popper died and I needed to get another. I really like the new design of the popper but I think the design causes popping issues. The new design has a deeper pan but with the deeper pan the overall surface area of the pan decreased. Because of this I get a lot more unpopped kernels and popping takes longer. I would not recommend the new design but the old design is solid. I have definite buyers remorse on this purchase. I should have kept with what I knew and not gone with the new design.

Trying to eat healthier, looked into it a little bit and read that I could use olive oil, tried it a couple times and the kernels didn't pop very well and I stopped to using it for a bit. Just bought some avocado oil and thought I'd try it again, what a difference! Kernels are perfect.

Does bot pop popcorn well at all the corn all ends up hard and barely popped. The stirring wand does not stir kernels at they are bent up. Would not buy again. Very dissapointed!

Love it! It is sturdy and easy to clean. We have popcorn every Friday night. It is holding up well. I believe it will last a long time.
