This was as simple as can be as far as installs go. Always ensure you power is completely off including the battery inputs. Use your battery disconnect switch or disconnect the batteries all together. The hardest part was crimping the large power and ground wires and routing them behind the printed circuit board. but a pair of needle nose pliers makes that a breeze too. Very easy install and fixed our battery charging issues and flickering lights.

Hooked everything up right, IΓ’β¬β’m a licensed rv tech to start with, hooked up everything tight and correct flipped breaker on and less than 5 seconds itΓ’β¬β’s smoking a crazy amount and sand near caught fire it seemed like. Turned breaker off and removed and found what is in this picture! The capacitors blew up

I ordered this power converter to replace the Γ’β¬Εname brandΓ’β¬Β converter that came in our camper. A comparison when placing the converters side-by-side, confirmed that there was very little difference between them. The circuit boards have the same layout. The wiring is attached in the same locations on this converter Γ’β¬β which facilitates an easy swap-out. One caution when installing this converter is that the power supply wire colors are reversed from what the factory installed converter used and from what I am accustomed to. In my world, the hot/line wire should be black and the neutral should be white. Those wire colors are reversed on this converter. Labels on the wires and on the circuit board clearly indicate the correct wiring, so pay close attention to that. Physically, this converter fit perfectly in place of the 8955 unit it replaced. My only real complaint is that I ordered this unit based on the item description graphic that states Γ’β¬ΕDesigned for RV Lithium BatteriesΓ’β¬Β. I donΓ’β¬β’t think this is accurate. Lithium batteries require an absorption charge voltage of 14+ volts. Another of the item description graphics indicates the absorption mode charge voltage for this converter to be 13.6 volts. My installation and measurement confirm this. So . . . yes, this converter will charge a lithium battery . . . but only to about 70% capacity as is the case with chargers designed for lead acid batteries. For this reason, I am deducting one star for the misleading description when it comes to lithium charging.This is a good power converter if you only intend to use lead acid batteries in your RV.
