Whiteside Machine Company has been in the router bit business for over 30 years providing customer with quality products while at the same time striving to achieve complete customer satisfaction. Several woodworking magazines have tested Whiteside versus the competition and selected Whiteside as the winner for best router bits available in the market. Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 as a general purpose machine shop in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside's home. Located in Western North Carolina near the furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the company was often involved in making repairs or special parts for the furniture and woodworking field. A strong commitment to customer problem-solving, a can-do attitude, and innovative ideas, along with a growing core of dedicated employees, helped the business evolve into a manufacturer of woodworking equipment and tooling. Primarily through repeat business and referrals, the tooling business continued to grow to meet a demand for quality production router bits as well as custom application tooling. Today, Whiteside Machine occupies a 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and produces a complete line of solid carbide and carbide tipped router bits. Whiteside's quality, innovation, and customer commitment is still present in our superb product line, in the design of custom tooling to fill special customer requirements, and in the development of special machinery and tooling for our own manufacturing use. As always, Whiteside Machine is continuously striving to improve our product through new technology, improved production techniques, and ongoing research and development efforts; along with rigid quality control, vital customer feedback and extensive field testing. This is a Whiteside bit, they make high quality bits that will stay sharp and work great. They are expensive but good tools are not cheap. I use my tools to make money so I want them so work. This hit doesn’t chip out and doesn’t burn the wood if you go at a good steady pace.

Worked great for making a tray in hard maple (base of a headphone stand. The bit shows no signs of wear after use, it cut quickly, and is clearly well-made. It caused minimal burning despite the hardness of the wood, and sanding it up afterwards was... as good as I could reasonably expect it to be.

I've been using Whiteside for my 1/4 palm router and had very good success every time. On some bowl and tray bits to the top of the bit, sometimes, manufacturers will leave a space between each side of the cutter; this is not the case with Whiteside. The bit is completely linear from one side to the next on the blade, only to switch sides.Good:Very smooth bearingOut of the box sharpPerfect finishThe bearing stop is removableBad:None~If you found this review useful, please hit the Helpful button below.~

This bit carves trays perfectly and leaves a smooth finish on the bottom, requiring only little sanding on some woods. Will buy again.

I used this bit to make a routed tray from a solid piece of walnut. It cut well and left a nice surface in the tray. I look forward to using it on future projects.

The first bit I received had a small mark on the shank and seemed unbalanced at higher speed. Tried to use it and it left burn marks in white oak. Got it replaced and the new one is fantastic with no more issues.
