Yep. They work. I love love love wine and learning about it and what not. However I can’t handle it anymore with the headaches. I’ve tried a different brand of these types of things but I had 3 glasses of wine and I couldn’t even tell I drank the next day. I wouldn’t be able to get through 1 prior. The reviews were all great, but of course, I was weary, thinking that it might not work for me and they definitely do.

I recently purchased a wine sulfite filter, and I'm absolutely thrilled with the results! As someone who suffers from sulfite sensitivity, I thought I had to give up wine altogether. But this filter has been a game-changer.The is easy to use and doesn't alter the flavor or aroma of the wine. I've tried it with several bottles, and the difference is noticeable. No more headaches or stuffiness! The filter is also compact and portable, making it perfect for wine tastings or dinner parties. I've already recommended it to friends and family. If you're a wine lover who's sensitive to sulfites, do yourself a favor and invest in one of these filters. Your taste buds (and sinuses) will thank you!"

These wine filters were a real find! For years I haven't been able to enjoy a glass of wine with dinner because the high histamine content (especially in red wine) would often trigger a migraine. I was a bit skeptical about whether they would work, so I first tested one on a glass of white wine. No migraine the next day! After a couple of months I got up the courage to test one on a glass of red wine, and still no migraine! I've also tested the filters on hard cider, to the same effect. Amazingly, the filters neutralize histamines and sulfites without altering the taste of wine at all.Admittedly, it can be a little weird dropping what looks like a teabag into a glass of wine, but whenever I do, I let people know what it's for. Inevitably, someone will light up and ask where to get the filters since either they or someone they know also had to give up on wine.

I have genetic histamine intolerance, yet sadly I love red wine. Usually, I can get away with a glass, but two will give me mild hives. I can say that I drank several glasses using these filters, and no hives. Though, it is kind of tricky to know if this was due to the product. This is for several reasons. 1. Histamine concentration in wine varies by type, brand, and batch. It could be that the bottles I selected just happened to be lower. 2. For those of us with histamine intolerance, our sensitivity to it's dietary form is not consistent. A variety of factors can influence serum histamine levels, such as what else we ate that day, hay fever, and hormones. Hence, it could be that I just drank the wine on a "less sensitive" day (e.g. I had lower serum levels, and what I consumed from the wine was not enough to illicit a strong physiological response). 3. Histamines regulate a lot of different physiological activities. We have receptors in the brain, GI, skin, airways, bladder, etc. The physiological outcomes from elevated serum histamine range from hives and eczema to acid reflux to migraine, so just looking out for hives is not the most comprehensive metric. Honestly, if the manufacturer really wanted to prove the efficacy of this product, it would be a very simple experiment. Take several products that are typically high in histamine (wines, beers, etc.) prepare extracts from them prefiltered and analyze those extracts via liquid chromatography, then do the same for the filtered product (e.g. filter the product using the manufacturers recommendations). As someone who's made a lot of extracts and ran a bunch of liquid chromatography, this would literally take about three days of labor (a week at most if they wanted to get fancy with it by testing various volumes and filtering times). I short, I do find it suspicious that the manufacturer does not have a technical report demonstrating the experiment I just outline. (You think Thermofisher would get away with that crap?) So, to all my fellow liquid chromatographists with kids, who have to do those pesky science fairs, please have them test this one, and then publish their findings in a public forum. They can literally rip off this amazon review for the motivations and design.

When I found these, I tittered at using a "teabag for wine". Not tittering anymore after using one.I opened a bottle of dry red wine (my preferred type), poured a 4 oz. glass and tasted it. It was a good wine but a bit strong on the tannins with a slightly bitter taste at the finish. I dropped the "teabag" in, swished the wine around a bit and waited about 3-4 minutes. (Instructions say wait 5, but I didn't.) The difference was amazing. The tannin was gone, leaving a fresher, more rounded flavor with no bitterness.I finished that glass and during the evening, had 2 more glasses, using the same bag. I could tell the tannins were not being filtered out as much by the 3rd glass (hey, testing is very important!!) but was definitely still working. The package says you can use one bag for up to 8 oz. I think 12 might actually be the max for effective use. Now, here's the best part. All of the sulfite/histamine reactions I've been having did not occur. I did not get the slight nausea, nor did my nose get stuffy nor did I have a mild headache AND the wine actually improved.I am shocked. I only wish the cost was under $1 per bag and could get these on Subscribe and Save.

These little filters are really easy to use. You just put one in your wine and leave it in for 5 minutes. I don’t seem to get the negative effects of wine like a headache after using one. How long a box lasts depends on how much you drink. They’re perfect for an occasional drinker like me.

I used this to combat wine allergies. I have noticed a good difference if you leave them dipped in the wine glass until you are done. Definitely recommend to those who experience the same.

The Wine Filter (tea bag style leaves a different taste in wine). I prefer The Wand Style wine taste not noticeably different.
