Bought this to add to my home security system to monitor for loss of heat in the winter when travelling. Easy to program, but the "energize" / "De-energize" thing seems backwards. This allows you to control if the relay is normally energized or at rest; which affects what will happen if the unit loses power. I tested the temp reading and it was very accurate. I tested the cold alarm by placing outside and it went from 70 to 48 in 3 minutes and tripped the alarm as it should. I tested the heat alarm with a hair dryer and it tripped in seconds. Great unit. Has one relay per zone, and there are NO and NC contacts. It also has an extra relay that trips if ANY zone is tripped. This could be used for all sorts of things besides alarm monitoring.

We use a lot of these EnviroAlert units and find only one issue and that is if you do not plug the wall where wiring may enter you will get erronious tempurature readings if there is any air flow through your walls. This issue is by no means a fault of the device, it's an issue with the installation that isn't considered my many installers.The Winland EA200 & EA400 are quality equipment. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.Additional water detection, humidity & temp probes can be added to provide a nice combination monitoring station.
