For the price it's the best seal that I've purchased thru Amazon. Every building hardware store in Bend was much higher in price or didn't carry the 1 inch thick wood stove seal. And it works great.

This particular "gasket" rope was too thick for what I needed to seal the door of my wood stove. That's on me. What is interesting is that, like a Turducken, it has a rope inside the rope. I just pulled out the small one inside and was able to fit the larger where I needed. As a bonus, I used the small rope from inside to gasket the glass. When I finished, I noticed that pretty much everything in the room was sparkling with little glass slivers - I mean everywhere. Seeing them again this morning on my clothes I was wearing made me understand that these slivers are also now inside my lungs. Cool! Please get out one of the dozens of N95s you have stashed and put it on before attempting this installation! You probably also want to wear safety glasses.

I purchased this to replace the one on my fireplace insert. I got it slightly bigger than the one I had previous installed which fit when I installed it but within a few months allowed for gaps that got bigger and bigger over time. This one was initially a very tight fit so I was worried I had gotten too large a size but after a couple of weeks, it is perfect. The gaps are gone, my fireplace is much more efficient. It was easy to install - I took the door off so I could lay it flat, pulled the old one out replace it with no problem.
