This was intended to replace a Woodford hydrant that was defective. The defect was that water spewed out from about the outlet. A plumber said this was likely because the previous owner left a hose connected to the hydrant during the winter, and the frozen water (ice) fractured the casting. The plumber could not remove the defective head from the pipe because the threading was fused together. I will try to return this part and get a complete unit, which will require digging out the previous assembly.
