Thus bit cuts really well, really fast and for a while without sharpening. It also produces a cleaner cut and cleans out well also. Highly recommend this bit to anyone in the utility industry. Very satisfied!

I needed to bore through a 10inch white ash beam. I used a 20V cordless drill and bored a 5/8" hole in a quick minute. Best cutting bit I own.

I've had many of these bits, they only last so long before they bend. They feed well (very important), and the hole is clean cut. It is still better than some of the old school bits out there. Unfortunately I only get maybe three or four frames before having to get a new one. Not cool. For me the feeder is most important, because some old school bits bog down and won't feed without constantly cleaning the threaded tip, which is often just not worth it when you have a couple hundred holes to drill. Also I learned the hard way that it comes with our without spurs. Without spurs is useless, very messy hole on the face of wood.

I have been in linework for over 20 years. I've used every brand and type of auger bit. I've found that the Black Widow brand has always outperformed and outlasted every other brand/type of auger bit. The milwaukee brand was my least favorite, the Black Widow my most favorite, and Wood Owl somewhere in between. Irvin is ok but not the most reliable. However, this Tri-tip Wood Owl bit is spectacular. This one is, by far, my new favorite. I can get about 4/5 of the way through a 40 Class 3 pole without the impact engaging on my cordless 7/16" drive cordless impact drill. The bit glides effortlessly and virtually no blow out at the end of the bore. Very worth the money and I highly recommend.
