I was really excited about this mat as its a great size and super convenient to store but there were some reviews saying it was a little smelly... they. were right. Its literally just a wool mat with nothing else so when it gets hot from the iron it starts to smell like burnt hair? dead animal? not good, and it makes my projects smell too. The steam also travels straight through the fibers of the wool, so my table got wet with steam. I like the silicone iron holder it comes with but thats about it.

I like the convenience of it for sure. It's very handy. It has a slight wet dog smell when you use the steam iron. It also sheds a little. I just got it so I am not sure if this will go away or continue.

The moment I put steam from my iron to this thing it started to stink. I mean like a dead animal. I was almost embarrassed to return it in the store. I immediately purchased a different brand and the latest one just smells like wool when used, and not a carcass.
