This was a huge step up for me coming from using wooden wedges. These make an incredible difference when hanging a head on an ax. They’ve been great quality so far, and I’m truly impressed with how many come in a back at this price point. These are great value and have great build quality.

These conical wedges come in 4 sizes which is good for various sized and shaped handles. There are five of each size. The shape is a little shorter and more blunt than I would prefer. I think a longer slower taper would drive easier and be more effective. When I install a handle in an axe or other tool, I use wood wedges with glue or construction adhesive first, then these conical wedges and lastly, a wood screw down though each conical wedge. With the different size wedges you can use three or so in a large axe handle. In the selection of wedges I received, there is quite a bit of variation in the shape and taper. The rough machining marks actually help hold the wedge from backing out like a ring shank nail so that is actually a good feature. Over all these aren't bad wedges and you get 20 for $7.99. A very reasonable price.

I finally got around to repairing a collection of hammers, hatchets, and axes that I have ruined over the last few decades, so I got this kit. These wedges come in a variety of sizes. Because I always overdo repairs, I used them with epoxy glue to secure new or repurposed oak handles to two sledgehammers, a maul, and a hand held hatchet this weekend. I don't buy actual replacement handles- I usually carve and sand to fit repurposed handles into the heads, slather them with epoxy, jam them as hard as I can into place, then hammer these wedges in.It works great, and I sand off the epoxy residue for appearances sake. Just like new. These wedges are tough and cost effective, and allowed me to save a lot of money refurbishing my abused hand tools.

Set of 20 safety conical handle wedges comes in a variety of sizes (5/16", 25/64", 15/32", and 9/16"). The ad says these are steel, but by the look and feel of the these. They seem more like Zinc, or a cheaper metal alloy to me.Sizes are not consistent, which Im guessing the casting process and QA has a lot to be desired. They will still function just fine, but I bet you can find a higher quality handle wedge, if that matters to you. If you just need a bunch of different sizes, for some cheap hammers / axes etc...laying around. These will be fine.

Needed some hammer handle wedges so I thought I would try these. I drove one into the end of the 3 pound maul that needed a new handle, and after driving it in , I wished I had used a larger size wedge. As you can see in the picture, it didn’t drive the wood all the way to fill the opening. The head is tightly held for now, but I worry about it loosening up in the future. The reason for dropping one star is that I only received 4 of the largest sized wedge, not 5 as described. Also the smallest size wedge seems like I would have no practical size handle that it would work with. Maybe using 2 of them in a small handle would work.

Used a couple of these so far. The old maul handle had finally worn out and broke. Got a new handle and used one of these. Wedge nice and tight and sealed the head on tight. Working great there. Also did an old hammer head I had laying around. That work great as well. These are metal wedges, and they work just fine.

I’m not entirely sure of the exact steel that these are made from but whichever kind of steel it is, it’s working very well.I go through so very many axe and hatchet handles because I throw axes and hatchets competitively that just the constant use wears down the handle. Or rather it wears down the wood inside the head allowing the head to rattle or come loose. But hammering 1-3 of these in re-tighten the handle to the head. They also work great for installing brand new handles and not just repairing old ones.Good steel, work great and serve their intended purpose very well. The assortment of lengths widths and angles are great and I definitely recommend

This set of 20 safety conical handle wedges offers a variety of sizes (5/16", 25/64", 15/32", and 9/16") and is made of steel with what appears to be a zinc or equivalent coating. While they are functional and reasonably priced, the quality control leaves something to be desired.Within the same size group, the cones show inconsistencies in their shape, suggesting variability in the turning or forming process. While this won’t likely affect their basic functionality, those seeking top-tier craftsmanship may be disappointed. For general use, these wedges should do the job fine, but if precision and uniformity are priorities, you might want to consider higher-quality alternatives.
