How to replace?
1. Drilling out the broken handle from the old head
2. If the handle eye is bigger than your hammer head, You should trim off a bit of wood on each side of the replacement handle shaft until it would tightly fit into your hammer head
3. Finally, you need to pound the handle into your old head, to make sure it tight fit your hammer

I used these to replace broken leg on an antique cobblers bench. We were able to render very closely the legs already on it. We replaced both rear legs. It's a family heirloom so never going to sell. I now have it back in my living room where it belongs.

These must be contoured to fit whatever hammer head you are working with, also you will need to cut a slot into the end and get a wooden shim and/or a metal wedge. The end is pretty large and they appear to be for a somewhat large hammer (listed for a 2 to 4lb hammer).

These Handles didn't fit into my 4 lb. small sledgehammer (maul). They are too big for the oval cut in the head of the hammer. I had to reshape the handle with a sanding belt, and pound it in, and it was still too tight. Plus, they do not include the wedges to lock them in.

Really strong handles, although they didn't fit my 3lb sledge or any of my hammers, but I'm thinking that my stuff is really old, 50 or more years old!! Maybe they fit the newer stuff. But I was able to make it fit with some work

The good:Length is good and handles have potential.The bad:One is not oval because a piece of wood is missing which minimizes contact with the eye..umm that keeps the head on. Another minor issue is both pieces appear to have been wrapped in inexpensise clear packing tape. I can't get it all off and what I do get comes off in annoying strips. Don't want to damage the finish but the tape creases feel wierd & it's also not what you want on a handle.Neutral:Didn't mind the cost or the wait but could have purchased a completely new small sledge with a synthethic handle for slighly less (but I like to repurpose, refuse, recycle, & sometimes retire my old tools...so I gave this a try).

Had enough material to trim to fit 3# head. It did not include the wedge which is important!
