I was pleasantly surprised when these arrived. They are very nice cards. It also has a manual to help beginners learn how to interpret tarot cards. I can’t wait to use them!! Going to try them out as soon as I can.

It’s a beautiful deck with a good hand feel. The card stock is a great size! The only reason i give it 4/5 is there is such a STRONG chemical smell when you first open and use the deck. I literally couldn’t breathe for a second while shuffling. I am going to leave it out for a while and see if it airs out. But other than that it’s a great deck! This is my second deck from this company.

The box (© 2024) included a 78-card deck with a 112-page guidebook (© 2023). There is a QR code on a bonus card for a gift and an additional code on the last page of the book for extra educational materials. In this case, I wholly recommend accessing these materials. They do not ask for your email address or anything else. I scanned the codes with my phone camera: The card code took me to a PDF version of the guidebook with a lot more content (© 2023). The physical book only has “upright†meanings for the cards; the PDF book adds interpretation of the art—colors, symbols—as well as the “reverse†keywords and meaning for each card. The code on the last page inside the book took me to a PDF Tarot Guidebook Additional Edition which includes history of tarot and info for working with tarot in general, for any deck. There is also a code on the outside back cover of the book which goes to the online store. From the ebooks on my phone browser, I used sharing to send the e-books to my computer for convenient access. For context, I have about 10 tarot decks, and have never worked with the Rider-Waite deck, so I was excited to explore this deck. The Wyspell packaging, description on the product page, and guidebook all say “Classic†tarot; no place mentions Rider-Waite specifically. The back of the box notes: “Based on the Original art by Pamela Colman Smith. Updated and Enhanced by Oksana Shaptala.†Smith is the Rider-Waite deck artist. This deck appears to be true to the original art with color enhancement—per a check with Wikipedia. It is helpful to know Roman numerals because that is the numbering system used on the cards. I chose the “light†over the “black†background because I prefer light screens and light backgrounds in general. As for the quality of the cards, they are wonderful: Traditional tarot card size, the printing is clear and sharp, the paper is sturdy enough to handle frequent use and at the same time is flexible enough to shuffle easily. Even so, I needed smaller sections of the deck at a time to shuffle. The surface is smooth and the cards slide against each other. I did a reading with the physical book, and it was easy to flip to the needed page; although the book is small. Returning the deck and book to the box is a little challenging because it is a snug fit; it still didn’t take me long to accomplish. This is made in China. Overall, this is a beautiful deck. One notable downside is that the box was sealed in plastic and when I opened it, the chemical smell was horrible. I did leave the deck sitting out for about a week to air, then started working with it, and the smell is mostly gone.

This Tarot deck came nicely packaged. Not only was the card box sealed in a cellophane but so is the deck of the cards. The first thing that I noticed upon opening the deck of cards was a strong chemical smell. I set the cards down near me and the smell was still strong. I left the cards out overnight and the smell eventually dissipated and has continually died down over time. I wanted to mention this so others who order this deck won’t be concerned. I think the package is so well sealed that there was no way for this odor to go away but it will so, don’t worry about it. I have over 70 tarot decks and this is the first time I have ever encountered something this prevalent though. The deck is printed on very good quality card stock (GSM 400). This tarot card deck is approximately 1/4-inch thicker than most decks using a lesser grade card stock. The artwork is a very nice quality and I didn’t experience any smudging of the colors after shuffling a number of times. This is the “light†deck and I really like the way WYSPELL did the back of the cards. Being this is such a thick card stock, some people may find handling and shuffling the cards a little harder to do especially if you have smaller or arthritic hands. Over time, as the deck gets broken in, this may be less of a problem. This deck also comes with a decent little guide book. It contains all the meaning of the cards as well as a number of spreads including the classic Celtic Cross spread. This guide book only contains the upright meanings of the cards and not the reverse meanings just to let you know in case that may be a big deal to you.Overall, I find this is a very nice quality tarot card kit and a really good value for the money. I am very satisfied with this kit.

I'm leaving this review to report an issue with printing residue on the back of about half the cards that reveals what the face of the card is, in a certain light (see the bottom of the card in my picture). It's present on all the major arcana, court cards, and aces. Luckily it can be rubbed off, but that's a pain with 30+ cards.the chemical smell others have mentioned is present, but im sure it'll go away. The prints themselves look really nice and the cards have a nice weight.
