Bought this cage for my son to keep a bunny in. Decent cage for the price. The instructions were a little vague and not very helpful but we figured it out and do like the quality of a cage. Perfect for a bunny or guinea pig, probably wouldn’t use this cage for a ferret though. Bottom tray slides out for easy cleaning. Easily moves around on its wheels and it opens from the top or the front which is super convenient.

This cage is to be expected for the price, it's perfectly sized for one rat (it's not recommended to have a lone, ours is alone for medical reasons) but i wouldn't want to hold more than two in it for longer than needed. My rat isn't a fan of the ramp or hammock but he just climbs the bars to get to his platform and ive got him a different hammock on the way. The door is adorable and makes dealing with and cleaning the cage so much easier. The instructions were pretty informative but very clean cut and to the point. The materials aren't crazy obviously cheaply made and perform well under the regular pressure a lone rat creates. Over all my biggest concern of the cage is the wire floor above the removable tray, it's no where near deep enough for a reasonable amount of rat bedding and the wire floor Is a safety concern due to bumblefoot. These are easy fixes with a little extra cash but who's got that nowadays? other than the few issues I've had its a pretty good deal for a pretty alright quality. Can't beat the price!

This thing was a massive headache to put together, no parts were labeled, which isn't a big deal. But the instructions were also terrible and unclear, and it took me probably three times as long as it should have to get it all together. Also, many of the holes where the screws were supposed to go into either didn't line up properly or didn't even have a cut out hole at all. I think it would be worth it to spend a little more and get something else for your critters.

Once assembled, this is a good cage, especially for the price. Even with the cost of shipping, which added over 40 percent to the total price, it's not a bad deal. The components came well-packaged and, despite there being some damage to the cardboard shipping box, the cage components were all in good shape. The cage is pretty sturdy, the size matches the product description, and the assembled product is aesthetically attractive. There are, however, some things to be aware of.First, and probably most important for those without good spatial perception and/or shop skills, the assembly instructions (if one can call them that) are pretty much useless. They're one single-sided page with photos of the various component parts of the cage; more like an illustrated packing sheet than real instructions. Also, as others have noted, none of the pieces are actually labeled so the only way to match them to the labeled components on the packing list is visually. With that said, if you're fairly good with spatial details, have a little patience, and (at least, ideally) basic shop skills, the assembly isn't all that difficult. It took me about a half-hour to get all the parts in the right places; after that, it was simply a matter of tightening up the screws.Second, the finish appears to be a galvanized-type metal coating. How well that will stand up to repeated exposure to rat urine remains to be seen, but I'm expecting some breakdown of the coating (and resulting rusty spots) over time. Fortunately, as long as they're caught early, fixing such things only requires a bit of steel wool and some rust-inhibiting paint.Third, the cage floor, the middle divider floor, and the shelves are all wire grates rather than being solid. I don't consider this a problem, since the product illustration clearly shows this, but be aware that if you are using this cage for rats or other smaller animals (rather that, for example, a chinchilla or ferret), the half-inch wire spacing isn't particularly comfortable for them. Fleece covers are included for the floors and shelves, but with rats they'll have to be laundered every few days and they aren't likely to survive ratty teeth for long. The plastic litter tray also sits below the bottom grate, so while it's probably fine for rabbits or ferrets, there's no easy way to maintain a layer of substrate above the floor grate for rats to burrow and play in.Because the litter tray sits below the lower level floor grate, there's nothing to keep substrate from slipping between the grate bars and down into the litter tray, as well as through the side bars. The lower floor grate is removable, but removing it leaves about a 3/4" gap between the bottom of the cage wall and the top edge of the litter tray, which is enough for small rats to make an escape and for any active rat to toss lots of substrate out of the cage. These issues are readily fixable if you have some DIY skills and patience. I added thin HDPE plastic floors (made from 18"x30" cutting mats) over the wire floor grates in each of the two main compartments. This keeps substrate from falling through the lower grate and provides a comfortable surface. (If you try this, pick a mat with at least one rough side and turn that side upward, to provide better traction for little paws.) I also installed a layer of plastic-coated, 1/4" wire mesh ('hardware cloth') around the bottom 10" of the lower compartment to help keep substrate in. These weren't particularly difficult upgrades but they did involve some extra cost and a few hours of thought and effort.Overall, while the 1/2" bar spacing is nice for rats, this cage is really better suited for a chinchilla, ferret or other larger animal than for rats. It can be adapted for rats without too much trouble, if you're comfortable with some basic tools and a DIY approach, but it's definitely not the best cage for rats, especially if you're a beginner at rat-keeping. On the other hand, the overall value is very good, especially for slightly larger animals, and adaptable for rats with some effort.

Pros of this cage:It is a great cage, awesome value. It is so large and there is so much more room to decorate and make fun activities for my girls. I have 5 rats in this cage who are all packed into the small bird house on the top level. They don't know what to do with all the space yet. I really wish there was an accessory kit for this cage, some platform covers and ramp covers would be amazing. I used hand towels and old tall socks, accessory kits would sell like crazy.Cons of this cage:One being hanging a hammock on any level is extremely difficult you're better off buying corner hammocks. There's no edge on the outside of the cage to connect The hammocks too you have to wedge it in there pretty hard. Of course the wire platforms do suck, I put hand towels over mine. The next big flaw is the shelf underneath. It is so small I could only fit the cleaning products, all my food will have to find another place to be stored. I saw the picture and I was so excited for such a large shelf, I was pretty disappointed with what I got. Didn't come with any instructions on how to put it together, luckily I'm mechanically inclined and put it together pretty easily. I did have a problem where one of the screws didn't quite fit and I stripped it trying to get it in. A couple bars were bent out of place but nothing too bad I bent them back. The tray and the grate on the bottom don't go all the way back leaving about a half inch gap in the back of the cage. Where we could all assume the poop and pee is going to fall right onto your floor and miss the tray completely. The tray is very cheap and flimsy I can already tell I need to be very careful with it so that I don't break it.Overall I love the cage. I just can't give it 5 stars because of the lower shelf or lack there of and how awful the lower grate and tray are. Every cage is different and it is usually luck of the draw. This cage just happened to be slightly worse than I needed.
