It needs a fine paper sanding so you don’t get splinter in your teas or hands. It is beautiful, however. Maybe some kind of light varnish to smooth the scoop. I can’t use it for fear of getting unseen wooden splinters in my hands or my loose teas. It is a shame because it is quite beautiful and compliments the Ted sets I purchased.

The finish in the scoop is very rough. Particles of ground coffee stick to it. Will need to be sanded down and refinished. Accidentally purchased two. Will likely keep both. But absolutely do not recommend this item to anyone.
