I am constantly nicking my files using them for things I shouldn't (or should I say my husband does). So of course I needed a new set. This set is so nice and I love all the smaller detail files. Now to keep them from my husband so he doesn't ruin these also!

Requested this set and have to say it's really a nicely packaged arrangement. Has a number of files/rasps along with a cleaning brush all in a zippered case.Like a lot of people I requested this mainly for use sharpening my mower blade and maybe to try and sharpen a chain saw blade. So I'm by no means an expert in files. My experience is basically fine patterns are for use on metal surfaces while course ones work on woods. I decided to look into this in a little more detail.The vendor lists 3 file patterns - 'metal', 'wood' and 'diamond'. I would equate these to 'single cut', 'rasp' and 'double cut'. Again 'rasp' is for use on wood while the other 2 are primarily metal. Why? Because fine file patterns easily get clogged up by wood.Now the question is what is the difference between 'single cut' and 'double cut' for use on metal surfaces? Single cut - main use is for sharpening, finish filing or draw filing. Can be identified by looking at file face and the pattern in the file has repeating lines all going the same (parallel to each other) direction. Double cut - when you want fast removal of material which is for rough work. Could also be used to larger imperfections out of surfaces fast before going to single cut for finishing. Can be identified by looking at file face and you see lines like single cut but then a second set of lines crisscross so you see small diamonds in the pattern. So what's in this kit? Mostly double cut with a few single cut provided on the smaller files.5 large files. 4 'double cut' for metal and 1 rasp for wood.12 small files. Look like single cut (3) and double cut (9) to me. No rasps here and I wouldn't plan on using any of them on wood surfaces.1 combo file. Is a rasp on one half and double cut on the other.1 cleaning brush.I'm happy with this set but remain confused about the 3 small 'wood' files. Looking at the patterns I can't see any real difference except 3 have a single cut pattern and all the rest are double cut. Is the single cut pattern considered wood? I woodn't think so (LOL). In my opinion none of these would work well on wood unless it was some super hard variety. If I use any of those 3 small 'wood' files on metal will it ruin them? No idea. Bottom line is what I'd say here is if there were 3 small files intended for wood only the vendor should mark them clearly - say by using a different colored handle. Confuse me and it costs a star.

This is an outstanding file set with a wide multitude of files in different sizes. They come with a nice pouch to keep them. The files have a good grit and come in handy in the workshop.

I am pleased with this set. The storage pouch isn't any use for me as they will go into my toolbox. Each file comes with its own plastic handle so you don't have to fuss with changing the handle each time you want to use a different file, and even the smallest size files come with little plastic handles, which is very convenient. I've just used a couple of different sizes and shapes so far, but you can see it comes with lots of choices - flat, round, etc. that will be very useful. There are no markings on the metal files. Some of the plastic handles are marked with the brand's name.

This is a nice set of 4 large metal files, 6 small metal files, 3 small wood files, 3 small diamond files, and a wire brush, all stored in a nice tool bag. All files come with ergonomic handles that makes it very comfortable to use. It is perfect for shaping, trimming, and smoothing different types of materials that are common at home. I have already used some of the files on metals, wood, and plastics and they worked very well.

You get a good variety of files in this set and I’ve used a few of the them so far. The large files cut wood well, but I haven’t used them on metal yet, so can’t comment on their durability.The smaller files are described on the website as some being for metal and some for wood—they aren’t marked and I couldn’t really tell the difference in the way the look or they way they cut. I was too rough on one of the small files and it snapped in half during the first session. I find the handles on the small files a bit stubby, but that’s better than many of the mini file sets out there that don’t have handles at all.The set comes neatly packed in a carrying case and includes a wire brush for clearing the files.

This file set will last me a lifetime, and after using them, I'm sure that they will perform great through the years. I had the opportunity to put them to the test soon after I received them,, cause I was cutting some sheet metal and thick angles, and these files helped my get all the edges smooth and shiny in no time, with minimal effort. And after using them, I used a wire brush to clean them, and to my surprise they look as good as brand new, like I never used them. So yes, this was money well spent!
