I installed this only a week ago and have used it twice and it works well so far. Make sure you have a pan below to catch the coolant that escapes when you remove the old one. A good idea to have the new one prepped with Teflon tape or other acceptable sealant on the threads and ready to grab quickly to limit the coolant loss. I lost about a pint during my install. Common sense tells me it may be a good idea to run the engine for a bit before plugging the heater in so it has a chance to get immersed in the coolant. I don’t know if plugging it in dry would damage it, but I’d rather not risk it.

Replaced my stock block heater in my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 with this. Easy to install, working great and cord is long and durable feeling. Very happy with this part.

Local o’reallys and Napa couldn’t help so got on faithful Amazon. Found what I needed. Looked at reviews and worked for similar trucks so ordered it. I have an 01 24v Cummins and got my truck started after about an hour in 20 degree windchill.

I bought two of these after the block heater on my Cummins died in the middle of winter. I live in Canada and the winters here can be brutal. I don't like cold starting my diesel engine unless I have to. I installed one of these a couple of years ago. Install was straight forward. You don't need to drain coolant.. You just need to be able to switch them quickly. The new one threaded in perfectly. No leaks. Has worked perfectly through 2 Canadian winters. I also like that this is made in the US.. Good quality block heater. I now have 1 for backup.. Just in case.

Perfect fit.Get a 5/16 clear tube about 2 feet long to drain radiator fluid into three 4 liter jugsTake off airbox and tube to turbo with 8mm ratchetwith a 1/2 in ratchet use a 8 inch long extention with a 1 1/8 socket and a snip barReplace with new part and dab some liquid teflon.Make sure the have the 2 plug post diagonal because the plug has a 90 degree and you will have it facing down this way.I paid 47 bucks for this part, price is outrageous right now Cheers
