The A250c is designed with a smooth, ergonomic rubber grip allowing for a comfortable yet secure hold for any size hand, at any angle. This multifunctional surface scanner uses the most recent technology in density detecting software and circuitry. The Zircon A250c has a 4-mode selector switch making it easy to change functions while the advanced ColorTrip Display allows you to easily distinguish the scanning mode by the color of the screen. The ultra-bright LCD screen, patented SpotLite Pointing System, and audio tone all indicate the location of the target. This Zircon scanner also comes equipped with a Signal Strength Indicator that helps to distinguish between shallow and deep targets. The MultiScanner A250c includes ACT (Auto Correcting Technology) that automatically corrects common user errors, such as when scanning begins over a stud, in addition to a Low Battery Indicator to alert its users to replace its battery for optimal performance results. The tool constantly scans its surroundings and recalibrates itself if necessary. The scanner’s display lights green in its 2 stud scanning modes to locate the center, edges, and direction of wood and metal studs and joists behind walls, floors, and in ceilings. In StudScan Mode, the MS A250c scans up to 0.75 of an inch (19 mm) deep. Switch over to DeepScan Mode to double the scanning depth to 1.5 inches (38 mm). Metal Scan Mode is indicated by a blue screen locates non-ferrous metal, such as copper pipes, up to 1.5 inches (38 mm) deep and ferrous metal, such as rebar, up to 3 inches (75 mm) deep. Metal Scan Mode finds studs behind lath and plaster walls, tile, drywall and stucco walls by identifying the consistent pattern of screw or nail heads in the studs. The A250c is programmed with a WireWarning Detection feature that indicates the presence of live, unshielded electrical wires up to 2 inches (50 mm) deep when using StudScan, DeepScan and Metal Scan Mode. When live wiring is detected in these three modes, the screen will light, or flash, red. In addition to WireWarning Detection, the A250c also includes AC Scan Mode that is distinguished by a constant red display. This mode detects, locates, maps, and traces live wires. My husband bought this so that he could find the studs in the wall to hang a handrail for the stairs. This worked great, just as described. It was very easy to figure out and operate. We had bought another cheaper one and returned it for this. I would recommend and buy again.

I bought this after owning a couple other well known brands. None of them were cheap ones either. But now I have finally found one that will do a "deep scan" and find the studs I am looking for. In my case, I needed to mount grab bars onto a bathtub surround. The surround was made out of 3/8 inch Corian. Under that was 1/2 inch drywall - the dense kind that is used for wet environments. In back of that was a vapor barrier. Then came the studs. NO PROBLEM! And right on the money! I am not paid for reviews. I own this. I highly recommend it. And by the way, when comparing stud finders, I was pleasantly surprised to see they offer a lifetime warranty on this product!

I had a big round of remodeling coming up, so I decided to upgrade from my old studfinder (probably from Sears 20 years ago) and go with this one. It's about the same honestly. I'll give it points for the nice display; if it actually finds a stud it does a nice job showing the center, but my old one was fine too - just sweep from both directions and split the difference. This one performs about the same as my old one in terms of false positives and false negatives. I've had to resort to guessing, knocking, and drill-every-inch methods more times than I'd like in recent weeks having purchased this. If you don't have a studfinder, maybe this one is ok at its price point. If you do have a decent one, don't expect this to be an upgrade. I'm looking at the Bosch GMS 120 as a potential upgrade to this one.

I felt it was time for a new stud finder. After lots of research, I decided to give this one a try. My wife pointed out to me that we “already had a good one†(Ryobi) that we’ve had for some time. When I went to use it, the electrical sensor on the Ryobi said there was electrical wires on a very large space on the wall, which was impossible! Pulled this out and it gave a much smaller area along the wall in an area that made much more sense. I cut into the sheet rock where I needed to and all clear! You won’t return this! Worth every penny!

I have several projects coming up and thought it was time to upgrade my trusty old Zircon Studsensor 4.0 Pro stud finder to a fancy new digital one. I lost count the number of times I've used the old Zircon and how many studs it has found. It's been a terrific tool!But this new Zircon A250? Very disappointing. And yes, I do the calibration step as required. It misses studs the old Zircon locates with no problems. The new Zircon set to Deep Scan may sometimes catch a faint whiff of a stud the old Zircon has no trouble locating on the regular scan mode. These are just basic interior walls with a skim coat of plaster on them.Well, thought I, maybe the brand new, name brand battery I put in the new stud finder is flaky so I tried another new battery. Nope, no better. Next, I swapped batteries between the old and new Zircons. Nope, still no contest, the Studsensor 4.0 Pro for the easy win.Looks like my search for a more modern stud finder continues. Or maybe I'll just stick with the trusty old-school Zircon Studsensor Pro 4.0 and do the AC scanning another way.I'm happy others have had great success with their A250, unfortunately I'm not one of them.

Purchased the A250C after using my old Stanley scanner and punching holes through the plaster where it said there were studs but unfortunately missed most times so after some research decided on the Zircon - wow what a difference - easy to use and was easily able to find all the studs I needed to finish the job quickly.

I found that sometimes the finder was not true to the word. Found out the hard way when I had to fill missed holes.

It gets good reviews so I thought I was worth the extra $ however it often indicates a stud where there is none, even with multiple passes in multiple directions
