About this item

  • Note: 1)Too coarse a grind, too little coffee, or insufficiently tamping the grounds before brewing can all lead to inadequate pressure for a proper brew. 2)It is important to note that the amount of espresso extracted will vary depending on the grind size and amount and reprogramming may be needed when the size and amount are adjusted

The Zutto collection is Zojirushi's first collection of products that is designed and developed as a series of products. The concept of the Zutto collection was born as a result of the collaboration between Zojirushi and an interior designer in Japan. Unlike other Zojirushi products, the physical body of the Zutto was designed first, then the inner technology. Zutto (Zoot-tow), meaning "always" in Japanese, is designed to be enjoyed and used universally, for any occasion, anytime. This new Zutto Drip Coffee Maker is a convenient 5 cup size.

This coffeemaker exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a small, hotel room style coffeemaker and this one ticked that box. It is also sturdy, and the design has some unexpected pluses in its favor.Because the filter holder sits inside the carafe, its profile is even shorter than one with similar capacityThis design also means that the spout where the heated water moves from the water reservoir into the filter will never develop the oily residue from the coffee grounds. I could use it to heat up water for tea or make ramen in a 4 cup glass measuring cup for instance, and it won’t have any stale coffee smell.Another nice thing is that if your power goes out, and you have an alternate way to boil water, the filter and carafe will also work as a pour over system. It keeps the coffee nice and hot.An odd omission however, is the lack of automatic shut off. It would only require adding a simple snap disk to the heating element assembly, so I am not sure why the manufacturer didn’t add that safety feature.Other than that, this is just about the best basic little coffeemaker out there.

I just bought my second Zojirushi coffeemaker. My first one is still going strong, after being put to use an average of 3 times a day for the last three years, but I wanted to have a second one in reserve, just to be safe. By far, the best thing about this coffeemaker is that it makes excellent-tasting coffee. The coffee tastes very smooth, with no bitterness, and I can come back to a pot after a couple of hours and it will still taste surprisingly good (not burnt), with little noticable evaporation and still just the right temperature for drinking. By the way, I have never descaled it nor replaced the charcoal filter, and it is still working just fine and producing excellent tasting coffee. (I do use filtered water.)I also like the design a lot. Some have complained about the top falling off when you pour. I prefer to remove the insert when I am pouring, although you only have to put your thumb on it to keep it from falling off if you want to leave it on. I like that it is compact (not too tall), and I find the 5-cup capacity perfect for making two cups at a time. Coffee never drips on the warmer plate, since it is all self-contained, and it pours very well, with never any coffee spilling on the counter.I do not remove the water container because I find it just as easy to pour directly into it than to lift it out and reseat it. It is easy to see the water line when it is seated. Also, the water container is kind of an awkward shape to hold onto when filling, so I just leave it in place. This coffeemaker is missing two features which I have found annoying in other coffeemakers: the automatic shut-off and the ability to pour while it is still brewing. When using coffeemakers that have the auto-off feature, I have found it very annoying to come back for my second cup of coffee, only to discover that my coffee has already gone cold. It is true that I sometimes forget to turn it off, but my forgetfulness has never caused any problems. I have left it on overnight and come back to find the coffee still there, and I just pour it out. Even if the coffee all evaporates, the worst that has happened is that I've had to gently scrub the bottom of the pot when washing it. As for the ability to interrupt the cycle to pour a cup (for those impatient people who can't wait the extra minute for it to finish brewing), I have found that feature to be problematic on other coffeemakers, since if the carafe is not seated just right, the filter can overflow and cause a huge mess. The one slight weakness that I have noted is that the handle has come slightly loose from the carafe and after considerable use, it feels a bit wobbly. But this wobbliness has not interfered with my ability to pour, and I haven't noticed any signs of the carafe cracking. Perhaps in a few more years, this will happen. All in all, this coffeemaker has a simple, elegant design that eliminates all the unnecessary bells and whistles while making an excellent tasting cup of coffee. Who could ask for anything more?

I bought this drip coffee maker after America's Test Kitchen recommended it due to the HOT water temp of 195-200 degrees when it drips over the grounds. It does make a good cup of coffee! I cut down on my coffee consumption this year (from 3 big 24 oz mugs/day to just 20-24 oz/day) and both my old 12 cup percolator and an old 10 cup drip coffee maker stopped working in the same month...so I needed something. I thought this small coffee maker would be just right now that I am not drinking as much coffee. I like that the water chamber comes out for easy filling or cleaning. This coffee maker makes 20 ounces of coffee per full "5 cup" pot and it is ready to drink in less than 10 min. The glass carafe feels thin and fragile so handle with care. The unit is sleek looking and petite. My OXO burr grinder towers over it as they are next to each other on the counter. One has to remember to turn off the unit after making coffee. I don't use the warming plate under the carafe since the entire carafe pours into one big mug, so that is automatic for me. I only give 4 stars because "5 cups" should be 30 ounces, not a mere 20. And the glass carafe could be more substantial. Other than that it is an attractive unit and produces good hot coffee.Update Dec 10, 2024 So after making one pot of coffee per day for 6-7 weeks, my coffee maker was getting slow and noisy. The little filter at the drip area is clogged with calcium and white sediment. I You can unscrew this filter part to replace it at extra cost....~$10. This would be expensive if I had to replace the filter every 6-8 weeks! I pried the filter piece open with a tiny screwdriver and washed out the 1.5 inch X 1.5 inch square of thin filter material. I decided to put the filter piece back together without the little square of filter material in the middle. I gave the coffee maker a descaling treatment with Urnex Dezcal descaling powder and the coffee brews quickly and quietly again. I don't think this extra bit of filter material makes a big difference. of course I do use a paper filter for my grounds and that will catch any hard water sediment.... the coffee tastes the same without it.

I been very picky with coffee makers. We just moved to new place and I was dreaming about good coffee maker. I like my coffee to taste good, and be hot, so I was very particular about my pick. Few things that were important for me when looking for new coffee maker were: size, simplicity, nice design, good ratings, great coffee. After weeks of searching I end up getting Zojirushi. The price is good, size is great, very compact and super easy to clean. The coffee is fantastic, hot, and brewed quickly. Please note that 5-cup is really 2 mugs. I wish it was 4 mugs instead but ah well, can't have it all. At the end of the day, when I pour 2 cups, I usually start another pot of coffee, since myself and my bf like to drink 2 large cups in the morning. So far the coffee maker is great, and it meets all my expectations. I noticed few people commenting about less amount of coffee used with this particular model, and I must agree. Coffee comes out strong and very flavourful, so you can get away with putting less in.Over all, great product, beautiful design, fantastic coffee.Future improvement? I would love to see automatic switch-off function, but that's about it :)

The Zutto makes coffee as good and hot as a drip can. It is compact, well built, cleverly designed, and has a very effective heating element. The unit eliminates the flavour deficit so many other drips have making small quantities and you enjoy a first rate cup of hot coffee. You may taste the full flavour spectrum of your blend for the first time. The great design of the unit completely separates the water heating function from the coffee making function. Consequently, the Zuto is so much easier to clean and to stay that way. This, together with the removeable reservoir and good quality plastics support my strong recommendation. I expect my little friend to keep putting out hot delicious coffee for a very long time and will shop the Zojirishi brand again.

Buena cafetera. El café más corriente sabe mejor con esta cafetera. Es básica. Solo pones el café , el agua y lo prendes. El único inconveniente es comprar los filtros. 9/10

I have a small kitchen and I only drink one large cup of coffee a day, hence buying a small coffee maker. I did a lot of research and this is the one I chose but I'd like to pass along my thoughts on this product.Pros: Makes pretty good coffee; it's nice and compact, simple to use and easy to clean. It doesn't drip when pouring. I also like that it's not black. Cons: It doesn't fit a regular sized (#2) coffee filter. You have to fold it up or cut off the top. This is really annoying. It is very light weight. Since I am not using it for travel this is a con. They could have used a little heavier duty plastic, particularly on the top and the lid. It feels flimsy. This is not a cheap coffee maker either. The carafe is also very thin so I am very careful when washing. There is a warning not to put it on a cold surface when it's hot. The other thing don't like is the carbon filter that needs replacing occasionally. These are also not cheap and a bit of a money grab. I considered returning this item but after doing more research I don't really think there is anything better out there for the price so I will be keeping it.
