This beauty makes perfect hot spring eggs. So much easier and more convenient than setting up my sous vide, with the bonus of telling me when they're ready. I also love the mutant chicken aesthetic too.Just remember, you'll need a 120v->100v step-down transformer to plug it into. It will work on US 120v outlets, but your eggs will be probably overcooked if you do that. I recommend something rated for 400 watts at least.

I bought this make onsen tamago and have used it once. It was a bit tedious figuring out how to use without English instructions, and the company will not provide the instructions in English.Despite that, I did manage to match pictures and words to figure it takes 30-35 min to make the hot spring eggs. It was still runny at 30-33 min so I will try 35 min next time.A bit expensive as you also want to get the step down transformer to be on the safe side, but if you are picky about how you like your eggs or poaching them, this is a good deal device.I have taken photos of the box, device and the instructions to help folks make buying decisions.

Hence, not only an eye pleasing appliance it also cooks eggs to perfection. Tried and true all three setting delivered with nary a snag. The only drawback is that the instructions are written in Japanese, of course as it should because this particular model comes from Japan. However the voltage is compatible in the the western hemisphere. I emailed Zojirushi customer service in Japan and within a few days, Voila! Operating instructions in English !! I cannot say enough about Zojirushi appliances in functionality performance and design. I presently own six appliances, though somewhat costly they are worth every penny.

It is very nice appliance that you can have in the kitchen. As one of the customers said in his review, it gives a pleasant shape at the kitchen and indeed, it does.It can handle 6 eggs at a time however, you can cook less than that if you wish to.As it is written in the user manual that this appliance is made for use in Japan and hence you will see everything almost written in Japanese thus you cannot understand anything from this manual unless you know this language.However, it is simple and friendly to use, here I would like to share few steps that applied in my machine with excellent results:1. Before connecting to the power supply, make sure the voltage rating is not more than 110 Volts, otherwise a step down transformer is required.2. Put the eggs inside, using the plastic holder, as you like, the maximum is 6 eggs.3. Fill in normal water, not hot otherwise the machine will not work, till the eggs top is almost covered with water.4. Switch on the power from the main socket or from the step down transformer, 110 V only.5. From the Second switch on the right, select the type of cooking you would like to have. That will be indicated on the left hand side, red means the cooking is done soft, middle one means moderate and the yellow button means well done.6. Then switch on the first right button, and the cooking process will start.7. Make sure the top cover is kept in place.8. It shall take around 15-20 minutes depending up on the size of eggs cooked. Once cooking process is over an alarm will be initiated, then you can switch off the appliance and enjoy the eggs

Used once and second time did not work any more.Very childish toy. It is not cooking apparent. Regret to buying this.

Finally!!! I can recreate 7-11’s Onsen tamago! I’m so happy it worked! 750ml water, make sure it’s on the very last menu option (Onsen tamago in kanji) press start, then once it beeps, hit stop and then place entire rack into a bowl of cold water for 3min! Perfection! Ate it with men-tsuyu and I’m so happy!

One of the problem (such a stupid problem) of living in Japan is I can't have Onsen Tamayo. I have to go through long step to make it but this one, just set it up and forget it. God how much I missed Onsen Tamayo with Dashi ... Enjoying almost everyday since I got this.
