> TARIST 8 inch Triangular Metal File, Professional Carbon Steel file ~$9The Good:+ Solid shape+ Hard steel+ Good valueThe Bad:NothingThis is a great file and works as expected, and even slightly better.Although it sounds funny, I've used it on many things already, but I'm not a contractor or pro builder. The corners are sharp, one side is slightly convex, and other sides very flat. I'm finding I'm using this more than most of my other files for small household construction projects.Recommended.

This 10" file is perfect for my filing needs. The teeth allow for a quick cut of the metal without being too aggressive. I first used this to slightly "adjust" the receiving plate of my deadbolt on my front door. Next, I had a cooking knife that had a rather sharp spine. A few passes with this file made that knife much more comfortable for a pinch grip. Overall, I'm very happy with this file.

I wear a medium sized men's glove. The handle on this file fits my hand perfectly. The handle is plastic with rubber inlays which add some traction and comfort. The texture on the file is great. With minimal pressure I was able to remove material. With aggressive pressure I was able to remove a lot of material. I like the balance of enough texture to get the work done but not too much that it eats away more than I want to remove. My test material was a bumper on a 67 CJ5. I also like how long this file is. For finer, more precise jobs, I can hold the handle with one hand and the tip of the file with the other. This gives me a lot of control. I have smaller files that I can't do this with. It helps the quality of work and with fatigue. Lastly, the handle seems strong and built to last. I've had many files fail because the handle snaps off after heavy and hard use. I put this product under considerable pressure and everything held firm. This is a good file for a good price.

This is a nice metal file. The blades on the file are sharp and work very well. The handle is comfortable to hold (I wear a large glove size). After a few uses on a variety of different repair jobs around the garage, everything is holding up great. There is no noticeable wear/damage to the file blades and the handle is still attached nicely. The flat portions of the blade are even and sharp. The blades extend evenly around the corners of the triangles. This makes a very nice groove in the material and was having no issues filing a groove in a metal trailer project I was working on. Everything cut easily, and was nice and smooth. The blade is mostly straight, with a slight taper the last inch and half towards the tip.I am very happy with this file.

This file is a good product. It appears to be made of quality steel and the cutting grooves are well defined and do a good job. The handle is comfortable to hold. I use a flat file fairly frequently in my home for things like adjusting a door latch keeper or filing some sharp edges off of a drilled hole in a metal object or even taking some wood burrs off a board I just cut. Sometimes you need something a little skinnier than your traditional flat bastard file to get into a tight spot and this triangular file will do that. Also, if you need to cut a "V" groove into something, this is the file you need. At the price point, this file is a good value compared to one of the big box home centers.

Review for TARIST 8" Triangular Metal File: This seems to work well enough for the price. If you haven't looked at the dimensions shown in the pictures on the Amazon page, this file is about .35" wide at the tip, and a little over 1/2" at the widest portion of the blade: for practical purposes, your work needs to accommodate the 1/2" dimension. The blade length is 8", and the overall length including the handle is about 12.5". I haven't used this for long: so far, it works reasonably well for an inexpensive file. The cutting surface does extend all the way to the edges of the blades, so you can file an inside corner. I haven't had any issue with the handle coming off as another review mentions: metal files only cut in one direction (pushing away from you), so it doesn't seem like it should be an issue. Perhaps if one maintains pressure on the work while drawing the file back towards you, it could loosen the handle. I'm also used to using my files without handles at all, so it wouldn't be a major inconvenience for me.

Not yet used. Larger than I expected but should be okay.
