They should call this the fisher price - "my first cartridge extractor". Why would I want a plastic replica of the real tool? This is not suitable to remove any cartridge unless you use your imagination. You will need to buy the real one made of steel produced by Moen not this toy.

This tool works as intended to remove Moen cartridges from faucets. Make sure you have the screw backed out about an inch before you seat the tool on the faucet, as the tool body is threaded. This will allow the screw to fully seat on the cartridge in the faucet.It took a bit of repeatedly tightening the puller collar then wiggling to loosen the cartridge until it broke free. We have hard water and their was corrosion and mineral deposits that the puller made short work of.Do not trust YouTube videos that suggest that you can pull the cartridge out using pliers. If the old cartridge is stiff when turning or pulling/pushing, it means that the rubber seals are swollen and you will have a fight to pull the cartridge without an extraction tool like this one.

This was my first shower cartridge replacement project, so I didn't know what I was doing going in. However, once I figured out how to used the tool correctly, the job was quick and easy. The tool grabbed the old cartridge as designed. I just needed a large crescent wrench to back off the large nut, which slowly pulled the old stuck cartridge straight out of the pipe, similar to removing a bicycle crank arm. The new cartridge installed without this special tool. Now I can teach the 101 level DYI Shower Cartridge replacement class. LOL

The 2 “ears†that are to fit into the side of the cartridge to allow one to twist while pulling the cartridge do not fit around my1222 cartridge. Poorly designed. Returned and ordered the genuine MOEN puller.
