This review is for the 11 Gallon Automatic Water Trough, Horse Drinking Water Tank with Adjustable Stand, Automatic Water Dispenser with Float Valve, Easy to Assemble, Feeding Goat, Sheep, Horse, Chicken in Farm.So I'm known for getting things and using them for purposes other than the seller intended LOL, and that's the case here too! I'll either be using this as a raised bed planting area for my planned vege garden or I may incorporate it into my pond/aquascape.I'm leaning toward using it with the pond as it would be perfect to put plants in to help purify the water and create a waterfall that cascades & bubbles down a rocky path as that will help to oxygenate the water too. I have fake ivy and boxwood panels I can camouflage it behind too.So as I plan to use it I won't need the float switch, I may use the hose as an inlet for the water to hook up a seperate small pump though as the main one is for the filter. So I have not tested the float switch, but if it works like others I used to use when I lived in the country and had livestock, horses... it's a simple mechanism like the float switch in your toilet tank.This has a mnice sturdy tubular metal frame that height adjustable and can be anchored down. If I was using it for horses/livestock...I would put it against a fence for further anchoring it down as they like to rub against stuff to scratch and itch LOL and I think they could push it over pretty easily. Now sheep and goats might not be able too as easily.This would also be useful to put underneath a wall/elevated hay/V rack to catch some that they drop as sheep/goats are known for once it hits the ground they don't want to eat it and just waste it. Or even put grain/feed into for them to eat out of.Depending on their size dogs, geese, chickens, mini horses/ponies, even pygmy goats can drink from this in the lower settings... if you set this up on something this could even be useful for potting plants. I think it's a great option for starting seedlings inside... I think it's a very versatile item!Regular price $115.99 per the listing and there's a 5% off coupon. As much as I like this item and will make use of it though I must say it's high priced. Browse listing, check for sales/coupons... I found this exact item in other listings for much lower and an even better deal on a 2 pack!As always I only do honest reviews and update if needed. The legs are too flimsy to support the weight of the trough. The trough doesn’t have a drain plug making it a pain to drain. The hose attachment is not for a standard hose.

Bought this to use for an automatic waterer for my chickens in their winter hoop house. The trough itself and the stand it comes with are fine, just what I needed in terms of size. But, the auto shut off valve is crap. It leaked like crazy. Had to throw it away and replace it with a better one. Better off getting just the trough and stand and adding your own auto fill.

Nice trough. Was fairly simple to assemble and get in place. Works great. Decent quality materials. Happy with this for my critters

I got this to replace a different style automatic waterer for my goats and sheep. This one is fantastic, it holds a lot more water than my other one - which lets multiple animals drink at the same time - and it is freestanding so I was able to get rid of the frame I was previously using. It was fast and easy to assemble. It does not include the adapter you need to hook up to a garden hose, but they are easy to find locally or on Amazon.The float adjusts so you can get the correct water level, and as always with this kind of float they will do best with a low PSI water source. Mine is gravity-fed from an IBC tote full of water. You can hook it up directly to your house hose if need be, just barely turn it on rather than cranking it all the way on. Doing this will increase the longevity of the float but it is a generic float and easily replaced if needed.I like the style tank and the way it is built makes me think it will last a long time. There are no seams etc that will be prone to cracking or leaking, and the black color will hopefully help it thaw out faster when it freezes over - too early in the year to say for sure yet. I do wish it had a drain plug for easier cleaning but it isn't a big deal to just tip it over. The legs are height adjustable which is great for having it on uneven ground like I do. They include a bunch of stakes so you can make sure it is secure.

The design of the infill under the float is not correct so the water leaks out the side of the trough when filling. Also there is no 3/4 inch adapter needed to connect to a garden hose or bib. When I went to Amazon for product support there is none, returning was my only option. Made in China maybe that's why but very disappointed I'm returning it.

This trough will save us some time taking care of our animal chores. Just a daily quick check instead of hauling multiple gallons of water. assembly was very easy and the adjustable height lets even our chickens get a drink.
