This set is perfect for chasing threads and making threads deeper. I use them in brass fittings to match other fittings from the hardware store. I cannot say how well they would last in steel or cast iron. But for chasing threads they should last a long time. Unbranded on the shank, I got a mix of etched and stamped sizes. These are a good value for the occasional user. I did find the 1/4 inch tap did not fit my tap handle and i had to resort to an adjustable wrench. Be sure to use cutting oil!

This set if specifically for carbon steel pipe taps using the NPT standard. I used one to add a stop cock the bottom of the heating tubes of an on demand hot water heater so that it can be easily drained for winters at a summer cabin. For most other applications the thread pitch is unusual. Be sure you need NPT threads.Overall it performed as expected. In harder steels like stainless these would not work well but for standard pipe they work great. My specific application was copper which is relatively soft.
