worked to stretch a pipe that was 18ga or about 1mm thick, still took a ton of force to do it and doubt you could stretch anything much beyond 1.5mm thick. The expander bars already bent a little and show signs of wear, not sure how long it'll last. Overall decent for the money though. Must be inserted fully into the pipe before trying to expand, if only a portion is sticking out it'll crack the tool as force exerted unequally

This will work great on mild steel pipes or aluminized exhaust pipe they are not strong enough for some grades of stainless steel pipe

I read the bad reviews about this tool. But I thought I am expanding aluminum so it should work! WRONG.I greased every friction point with wheel bearing grease. The bolt head started cutting into the expander. A hardened washer here would help. With a three foot lever it would not expand ALUMINUM. When I took the tool apart it looked like the threads were about to strip. If they paid you 20 dollars to take this thing it would not be enough.

Does NOT work! Tried to use in mild steel pipe, couldn’t even get it to open up a 1/16th without the nut digging into the spreader surface because there is no washer between them and because the tool is soft. This one is going to the garbage.
