This auger is easy to use just plug-in to power source and start making holes. 15 minutes after unboxing I had three holes 2 ft.deep dug. This auger has more than enough torque. Not sure when I'll need it again but I will not have to be worried about gasoline carburetors clogging up are any problems like that. I will probably use it this spring for planting shrubs in my yard. The only downside is it you have to be by an electrical socket or have a generator available. I will never buy a gasoline powered auger again. One word of caution if you have rocks, trees (or roots) in the area you are digging this could lock up and you could get hurt. I highly recommend this product. I am sorry I didn't take pictures.

I am able to run it on a 1600w small Generator without any issues witch was my hope. Plenty of power to dig what I need and working great.

Powerful little electric auger. We’ve used it to set a 6†gate post, dig a French drain, and dig out holes for concrete footings. Only complaint is the bit dulled quite quickly. Still, the ground where we live is TOUGH, and this auger does cut through and get down there when the blade is sharp

I love this thing. Any time that I want to dig in my yard, I start with this to loosen the soil. The trick is, hold it loosely, so when it hits a tree root, it twists out of my hands and turns off immediately. There's no need to push down on it--the drilling action does all of the work.

I had to make 8 holes 36†deep for 6x6 posts to install new solar panel racks and this did the job. You need to brace yourself for a moderate jerk if the auger hits a large rock but it’s manageable. I was using a 12†auger and would say that’s about as large as you can go. It wasn’t the easiest job I’ve done but it was way better than doing it by hand. I’m in my 60’s and doubt I could have accomplished this project without it.

This unit can stop abruptly if it hits a root or other underground obstruction. When it does, the upper unit swings violently around enough to cause serious problems or injury (broken hand, fingers or arm). My son and I were using it for the first time and had this happen. There is no warning. The auger stops and the motor assembly/handles jerk around viciously.I have a gas powered Southland unit which I have used for years. It has a heavy spring coupling to minimize this problem plus the torque on a gas unit is much lower than the static torque on an electric motor. If you must use it, you can pulse it on and off quickly to keep the kick to a minimum if it hits something. The manufacturer needs to address this problem ASAP before someone is seriously hurtBrent Mullis, Lexington, SC.

I put up 6 post using this machine. It was hard rocky soil. It did great.

After much deliberation I settled on this electric over a 2 stroke because in my experience any 2 stroke under $200 is just not durable. This think is smooth and powerful, very surprised and happy with it. Drilled 14 holes easy, 36" depth. My recommendation is if you're doing 4X4 post installs, find an 8" auger, life will be much easier, not so much finishing with a manual post hole digger. ( more room in the hole to place and level post exactly where you want it).
