I connected an external M.2 SSD drive to this card . I first connected the Drive using the USB A port. Running Disk Mark you can see I got over 1000 Mb/S sequential read and over 900 Mb/S Sequential write. When I connected to the USB C port these dropped to 44 Mb/s and 43 Mb/s respectively. I reran the same test using Samsung External T5 drive and got 565 Mb/S read and 531 Mb/S write on the USB A port. On the USB C these dropped to 44 Mb/S and 40 MB/S respectively. The slow speeds speeds are representative of USB 2.0 speeds.Update: I change my rating to 5 stars. After further investigation I determined it was not the USB C port but inferior cables. When I used the USB C to USB C cable that came with the card, I got the same speeds as the USB A port. Lessoned learned, use good cables.

Simple installation into PCIe slot and Windows 10 detected and installed the driver with no problems. My computer is a 4th Gen Core i7 with the old Z87 chipset. Sadly this chipset has a poor USB 3 implementation and can only be used in USB 2 mode. This ASMEDIA chipset definitely works. From a USB 3 key, I transferred a 3.7gb file in ~23 seconds @ 158MB/sec.

Severe problems with tech support! The setup.exe wouldnt run and support never addressed why or offered to help. They just blamed the age of my BIOS and mobo. FYI, no setup, no driver installation.I really wanted this USB 3.1 card to work with my new Sandisk extreme USB 3.1. Why have a board (theirs) that claims to add USB 3.1 to any working PCIE X4, 8 or 16 slot that bypasses the BIOS? I had their card in a 'supported' PCIE X16 slot WTH? Isnt the circuity on their card supposed to the work of moving data at PCIE speeds and convert to USB 3.0 or 3.1 speeds? They stated I would not get max speed so I agreed and asked them for a model# for 3.0 speed. After 3 or 4 email exchanges, that;'s when they replied: We do not recommend you take our product anymore.Perhaps I am wrong but in layspeak, I understand PCIE slots to support speeds similar to USB 3.1 (10gbs), USB 3.0 (5gbs). For newer PCs that already have USB 3.1, no need for this product but it IS advertised as being able to add USB 3.1 capacity to any supported PCIE card listed (ie: not X1 or X2). I'd be happy to get USB 3.0 speeds because that is 10x faster than my USB 2.0 (480mbs) mobo ports. If my understanding is correct, the card should have been able to handle 10gbs but I'd settle for 5.OK, no assistance with the setup.exe not working and no suggestions for a different model# running 3.0. Done with them.

After installation I found that this does not provide boot support to any USB.

Would recommend everyone who has a sff computer and no usb 2.0 get this. Just make sure your power supply can handle the extra draw.

The physical installation of the card (into the motherboard slot) might take a little more care than usual. In my experience, the fit was rather snug and I had to loosen the screws a bit on the bracket. The presence of a heatsink on the controller chip was a bit of a surprise since similar offerings from other manufacturers do not have heatsinks. So, this card should not have an issue with overheating. As for USB 3.2 complaince, I found that the USB Type C port had I/O issues (especially with reads) when trying to connect at the highest speeds. In some trials, the card would temporarily drop out altogether.Meanwhile, USB 2.0 connectivity over the same port worked perfectly fine.In contrast, the USB Type A port seemed to work perfectly fine at all speeds.I was able to consistently see data transfers reach ~1000 MB/s when using a proper USB 3.2 cable.I think the IO issues with the Type C port may have to do with the design of the card.Upon closer examination, I noticed that this port is actually mounted to some kind of interposer PCB.So, this means there not a direct connection between the small MUX chip and the main controller chip. For my needs, I have decided to send this card back in favor of another brand, and I will make sure this card has a "more direct" circuit layout for the Type C port.

Easy to install. Have 2 bracket on box, really convenient for installation, I can use half high slot.Performance: faster than 3.0Definitely. Maximum I can test, SATA SSD with enclosure. On this card I have 100mb per second more than chipset usb3.0 on MB.Both port have same speed on my card.
