I had an issue with my boat's control wiring that meant I needed to cut this multi-conductor cable, as much as I hated to do so. I decided that, if I'm going to have to cut it anyway, I'm going to add a connector at the cut so that if I, or a future owner, ever has to remove the cable again, it will be much easier to do so.In this extended boat restoration project, I've tried hard to replace some shoddy earlier work wherever possible (without adding my own shoddy work). This meant that i needed a connector that could withstand whatever this boat's environment might throw at it, and these DT wire connectors fit that bill. The connectors themselves are solid, and they have a series of gaskets that should make them extremely watertight.Connecting them to the existing wiring was easy; I did use heat-shrink style connectors so that my splices would not be the weak link in protecting the wires.My one wish is that I could have made the colors match the existing wire bundle's colors, but the only way I could have done that would have been to buy the whole tool set and attach the pins & sockets to the existing wiring. Instead, I was just careful to join the same wire color on the DT connector with both cut ends of the existing wire. Not hard, just had to be methodical.Nice product -- I'll definitely use more of these as I continue my project.

I tried several existing OEM connectors on several vehicles and applications, and this didn't fit any of them. The wires were also cheap and "crackly".
