We do lots of power carving. This requires bits of different diameters. The collets that come with most power units are have only a few standard sizes. I had some dental bits that just were too small for the collets. This set solves the problem.

Idk if it’s the collette or the rotary tool itself—- I have several third party burrs that I’ve used for several years. They used to fit just fine, but my last craft attempts haven’t gone well because the shanks don’t fit well into the rotary tool. I use the largest collette, and the shank doesn’t go in a deep as it used to.

Beginning when I was a pre-teen (1950s)my father, older brother and I were al very much into HO scale mmodel railroading. We shared a Dremel Moto-Tool. After I moved out I was an inconvenient distance from the old homestead, so I got my own basic kit. This was probably in the early 70s. It served me well, but over time I found that there are a lot of 3rd-party drills, burrs, rasps, diamond tipped saws, fiberglass disks, stones, buffing pads etc., with different shaft diameters or mandrels. The original basic collet is no longer sufficient. With this I'm in fine shape.

If you have shafts of different diameters, you will need this with an extra set of 4 different sizes
