This is a very nice budget in-wall between the studs gun safe.The packaging is PERFECT, it protects the safe from any damage during shipping and it is easy to open to access the item. The instructions included are just for programming the lock, there are no instructions for the actual install, you need to take your own measures to cut the wall.

Im a GC by trade. I just finished the install. Here's what I wish I knew in advance. *Stomps foot*Things to note:The part of the box that recesses into the wall is 4.13" deep. Translation: it is about 1/8" to deep for a 2x4 wall with 1/2 drywall. I chose to install it anyway. The flange around the door does not lay flat against the wall, because I chose to install it in a 2x4 wall. It might work if you have 5/8" drywall in your home... maybe?Secondly, the comments lead me to believe I would be able to flip the cabinet over and install it upside down, thus reversing the door swing. - False. You can not install this upside down to reverse the door swing because: The key pad does not flip. Also the door is not designed to be flipped. I did attempt to flip the cabinet, but the door needs to be pulled up and out when you do this. I decided to reverse the cabinet back to the way it was designed. - installing it in a different location unfortunately.If you want more: the bottom of the door sits on 2 metal washers that act like a spacer, they are not located at the top of the door. When flipped the door slides upwards and catches the frame of the cabinet when it opens and closes. The door is welded in place. So it doesn't reverse in any way that I can tell.Im still giving a 4 star review because the description isn't wrong. I was disappointed by the comments, and Amazon's Rufus that told me I could flip this thing. And we all know a large item like this is a pain in the rear to return... so I used it.It was installed in a closet so it didn't much matter cosmetically. If this was being installed somewhere it would be seen by guests or family, then I would be returning it because it's honestly a poor design. Too deep for 2x4 wall, and too shallow for a 2x6 wall 😄.Hope this helps.

Can hold two rifles and two handguns with plenty of room for ammunition. Easy to install. I put a 2x4 stub on each stud at the bottom to hold the safe in a perfect level position for the lag bolts. Another tip would be to use a 2x4†section on one or both studs if they are too far apart for the spot of choice. I put mine inside my walk-in closet opposite the hanger, so I can easily open the door. It’s perfect for my needs, I would like to see a version that is 6†deep where the wall uses 2x6’s instead of 2x4’s.

It's a difficult trade off, having depth to fit IN the wall and having space to store your guns. I gave this a 4 out of 5 simply because it protrudes from the wall more than I like. I have about a 1/4 inch gap I will have to caulk to complete the installation. Not really the cabinet's fault, but modern drywall is thinner than older stuff. Some reviews mentioned the shelves don't work. They absolutely do and there is little documentation, but if you can't figure out how to install the very, very tight support tabs, then you shouldn't be trying to DIY this solution. This storage cabinet is just that, a locking storage cabinet. The back and sides are pretty thin metal, but let's be honest here. If someone was going to tear this from your wall, they'd destroy the WALL, not the safe. The locking mechanism works great, multiple codes, multiple fingerprints and keys as back up. I really liked the back up battery pack if the internal batteries are drained. I'd buy it all over again!
