Even if you actually read your local water supplier's reports on your water quality, you never really know if something is contaminating it between there and your tap. So, I really appreciate the peace of mind that this kit offers. Granted, maybe ignorance is bliss, but it is probably a good idea to check the quality/safety of your home water supply.I found this kit very easy to use. And the instructions were reasonably clear. It comes with four types of tests. The basic chemical test is the most plentiful with 125 test strips. And you get 10 strips each for sulfates and nitrates as well as two bacteria tests. There are two bacteria tests so that if you get a positive on the first test, you can test again to rule out outside contaminations. I instead used one test on my tap and one on my PUR water pitcher. I wanted to know if maybe "purifying" my water was possibly adding extra contamination. Thankfully both tests were negative.I was also able to compare my pitcher and tap using the other tests. While both were totally safe it was nice to see that the pitcher was reducing a few compounds, including one that was at the highest level of the safe range in my tap water. The tests require you to have good color eyesight as you are comparing the color changes on the strips to a printout on the bottle/envelope. And that isn't going to give you a 100% accurate result. However, it can give you an indication on if you do need to have your water systems inspected or serviced. You can also use it like I did to see if the expensive pitcher filters you purchase even really do anything. For less than $20, even having a base level test kit like this is great. It really is nice to have confidence that what you are drinking and bathing in is safe.

I live in a rural area in central Illinois. We are all on an aquifer, and so is the agriculture surrounding us. There’s always a concern when we get a good soaking rain that the fertilizers and nuisance weed treatment could leach into the aquifer. Our local health dept offers water tests for $20 but they only check for coliform and e-coli. That’s nice but not comprehensive. These test strips cover a few of the other concerns. The additional tests I will wait until spring after we have a good dump of rain to test for bacteria. On the back of the test strip container is a test chart that shows what tests are on the strip as well as what levels are in your water. The green line under the individual tests shows acceptable levels. It's mostly minerals with hardness, PH level, alkalinity, chlorine, and mercury that are tested for.I am glad to say my test showed my water is pretty good today. YAY!

there are too many items in a very long test kit. maybe breaking it down into 2 strips would help. readings seem accurate but difficult to line up.

I had some questions about the water quality in my kitchen so I got this to help put my mind at ease. There were more potential tests than I wanted to do, so I used the strips in the main container and not all the additional strips in the pouches. I used it the same way you would test pool water, dipped the strip into water for 2 seconds, waited 15 seconds and compared it to the chart on the back of the bottle, it doesn't get much easier than that.

I got these test strips primarily to keep in my emergency go bag. I tried them out on our tap water and was was very happy to see that everything tested normal! It's as simple as a dip in the water and compare colors. The kit comes with the main test strips plus some sulfate, nitrate, nitrite and two bacteria test kits. It also has a small tube for collecting a water sample and a dropper. I didn't try the others out just because I wanted to save them for future use, which honestly, I hope to never use , but it is nice to know that I have something in case of emergency.

We used these strips to test our well water, and they are so easy to use! It literally takes seconds to check your water for several substances and properties. The directions are clear and easy to follow. I used the strips twice and came up with the same readings. Great quality and value—highly recommend!

I grabbed this kit to test my water filter and treatment prep setups, and it was exactly what I needed. It’s easy to use—just dip the strip, wait, and compare the results to the chart. The bacteria test is straightforward too, giving clear results in 48 hours. The variety of tests included is great, covering everything from pH and chlorine levels to metals like lead and copper. It’s a solid way to check if my water is potable, and with the number of strips included, I can keep monitoring over time. For the price, it’s a great buy and a good tool to have on hand for anyone concerned about water quality.
