This is a beautiful hunkin' chunk of, aluminum cutting, 1/2" end mill. She snores while taking a hundred and seven thousands cut out of a 3/4" thick piece of aluminum - standard side milling (2100RPM). Then she says - is that all you got - I could do that climbing. I doubt it - but she is an arrogant end mill. I heard end mills are like dogs - they start to act like their owners. Inspected รขโฌโ can't tell she was used รขโฌโ She'll cut aluminum until the dead cows resurrect and come home. This one is NoT for steel - she sure does like aluminum though. I'm so glad Lassie came home.Looks like they're not selling the 1/2" any more. When the 5/16 gets older it might get a little bigger.7 Super Novas for This 1/2รขโฌย Sulfras DLC Coated 3-Flute Carbide Square Nose End Mill ~ Thanks for Reading รขโฌโ Have an Incredible Life! ~

On our setup, using a chuck rather than a collet on a manual machine, this performed okay. It chomps right through 4340 steel alloy, but wandered slightly. It did a full-depth climb cut, a plunge cut, and facing with no issues, though it did wander slightly probably due to the setup. After the plunge cut it caught on a chip, which left a chip in one flute.

This is my 3rd tool from Sulfuras and all of them have been great. I also have the 2-flute and 4-flute TiAlN coated end mills which have worked well for me on steel. This one should also work well on steel (I've used DLC bits on steel before with good results) but the high-helix design is more optimized for aluminum and other soft metals. The cutting edges are extremely sharp so they may dull a bit more quickly if used on steel. The 3-flute design, special coating, and sharp edges are ideal for cutting aluminum at higher speeds. I only have a small bench-top mill so I can't cut at ridiculous RPMs but this tool still does a great job for me on aluminum. I normally use WD-40 as a lubricant when cutting aluminum and haven't had any problems with chip welding on this end mill. It cuts smoothly and leaves a great surface finish. Overall a great cutter for the home shop.

I have the 1/2 inch version which for some reason is no longer listed for sale. I put it through its paces making new parts on a milling machine that had a lot of play. It handled the stress great. It tore through 6061-T6511 without a hitch on a smaller mill.I also used it on cast iron to true up a lathe cross slide. It worked like magic though I did do fine cuts.In aluminum it handled a 50 thou cut with ease. The limitation was my mills rigidity.Great product, extremely sharp. Works like a dream.

Well made very nice cutting end mill. Tested on the end of 1/4 inch aluminum. The end mill left a very nice finish. Was definitely sharp

This cutter performed better than I expected. I have already used it on a couple of projects and it has not dulled yet. Not bad for the price.

I recently tried out the 3-Flute Carbide Square Nose End Mill with a 1/2" diameter, and itรขโฌโขs been excellent for my milling projects. The DLC coating really enhances its performance, especially when working with aluminum, copper, and magnesium alloys. It cuts smoothly and precisely, making it a great tool for both professional work and DIY projects. The 1/2" size provides the stability I need for accurate milling.

I use these in both my mini mill and my CR-1, These are very sharp and cut clean and the price is right
