When it comes to keeping things dry, I've tried a variety of solutions, but these desiccant sticks made from diatomaceous earth have been a game-changer. Marketed as natural, food-safe, and ideal for keeping pet food dry, I decided to put them to use in an unconventional way - with my 3D printing filament. While their primary use might be for food storage, I've found them to be an excellent addition to my filament storage system.Upon arrival, I noticed that the sticks seemed fragile, which initially raised concerns about their durability and potential mess. However, to my pleasant surprise, they all arrived intact. Given their appearance, I was cautiously optimistic about their performance. Desiccant options like these are crucial for 3D printing enthusiasts like myself, as any moisture in the filament can lead to poor print quality. So, I typically toss in a desiccant bag or stick as a preventative measure. While I can't definitively comment on their moisture-absorbing capabilities due to my usage context, I can speak to their resilience. These sticks have gone through multiple vacuum sealing cycles alongside my filament and have come out unscathed every time. Notably, there hasn't been any flaking or powder residue in the bags, a testament to their structural integrity despite their fragile appearance. From my experience, these desiccant sticks are not only effective but also surprisingly durable. They've withstood conditions that could lead to wear and tear without showing signs of deterioration. This durability, coupled with their food-safe nature, makes them a versatile option for anyone looking to protect items from moisture damage. Whether for pet food, pantry items, or, in my case, 3D printing filament, these desiccant sticks are a reliable alternative to traditional desiccant bags.In conclusion, if you're in search of a durable, food-safe solution to combat moisture, these desiccant sticks are worth considering. They've exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and performance, making them an essential tool in my 3D printing arsenal. Whether you're looking to keep your pet's food dry or ensure your 3D printing filament remains moisture-free, these sticks offer a practical and efficient solution.

Price at time of review: $9.99Quality: 4/5Value: 4/5These little sticks came fully intact and holding the kitty shape as advertised/pictured. I’m honestly not sure if these are truly working but it’s been keeping the cat food dry. I buy a large food bag that lasts for months. I put a few scoops of food in a Tupperware container so I’m not constantly opening and closing the big food bag. I bought the sticks to keep in the Tupperware container with the weekly food. So far, the food has stayed dry and the cat’s haven’t been making any complaints (food strikes). As far as usage and how long to use a single stick for, I’m not sure. I’ll have to do more research to determine how long to use a single stick for.

Sadly only 3 out of the 4 made it to me intact! And as the instructions state to not use them if they are deformed or damaged. . .I will only be using the 3 that are intact. So I've never thought my furbabies' food until more recently as I have lived in a very dry climate BUT since moving to a wetter climate, I've noticed a smell from their kibble that I have yet to smell before.I didn't know what could be the cause until I read somewhere that the kibble can go stale or bad in a wetter climate. O_O So their container got changed to an airtight container and when I saw these, I thought that it would be perfect to soak up the excess moisture in the air of my airtight container.Time will tell if they actually work or not as I have never used anything like this before. But I'll be sure to update this review once I've used it more.

Words cannot express my disappointment in these "dessicant" sticks. Not only did they seem to release moisture onto my dried items, they also caused them to spoil after being carefully dried and sealed in vacuum jars. That happened in less than a week to all three jars I sealed.Just awful.

I got these to try to ensure that my pets' food doesn't go stale. It's hard for me to tell for sure unless I decide to, like, EAT a piece of kibble. I'm not that desperate to find out the efficacy of this product, so I've taken to trying to break or smash pieces of kibble. Sounds ridiculous, I know, but I've felt a little guilty about my dogs' and cat's food ever since I moved to a more humid climate. I buy their food in the big bags because it's obviously more economical, but that also means there's more time for the food to go stale. I lived in a really arid climate before and things just really didn't go stale. This might sound ridiculous, but considering my animals mainly eat kibble I get worried that their food is stale. I wouldn't want to eat the same stale food day after day. Growing up I lived in an area where you had to put dried rice in your salt to keep it from clumping, so I figured it was worth a shot to try these. Again, it's hard to tell and my methods for checking aren't exactly scientific, but I think they're doing the trick. My husky mix is interested in her food consistently and she's the most picky, so I'm chalking it up to the fact that it's actually crunchy/tasty.

These drying sticks are much smaller than I had thought and not really the "long strips" as described in the description. They measure about two inches long by one half inch wide.I plan on using them during traveling to put inside my shoes when they get wet. So for that purpose their small size is probably a plus. Hopefully they will help to speed up the drying time overnight for my shoes. I will update their effectiveness once I get back from my next trip. I'm not sure if I will continue to buy these at this price point though due to their very small size and count.
