Product Description

USE ZHE WOOD SCREW

Use the wood screw

The chuck set comes with a 3/8" and a 1/2" screw chuck.the screw chuck is helpful when turning larger workpieces.

1.Turn OFF and unplug your lathe.

2.Mount the screw chuck in the chuck with an internal grip. The bottom lip of the screw chuck

should be under the jaws to help hold it in place.

3.The base of the workpiece should be flat and square to its sides. Using an 8.3mm (21/64") drill

bit or a 11.5mm (29/64") drill bit, drill a pilot hole straight down into the center of the workpiece,

approximately 31mm (1-7/32") deep.

4.Screw the workpiece onto the screw chuck. The base of the workpiece should be flush against

the top of the jaws.

Works well on my midi Jet 10/15. It isn't a Vicmark, or even a Nova, but it does the job well for someone who is a casual hobbyist turner. There is some minor runout, but not enough to make a difference at this craftsman level. It's well made from heavy stock steel and nicely finished with a decent set of jaw options. The only finish issue is that the saw blade used to quarter the jaws during manufacturing is very rough or worn. This means that every face is scored and every edge has sharp burrs. Spend a few minutes with a hone to take off these burrs - especially at the jaw edges. Otherwise you will nick yourself and mar the workpiece. One other minor problem is that the jaw adjustment holes are a loose fit, and rattle around.Surprisingly, the Cole jaws worked very well and firmly gripped the 6" trial scrapwood glue-up bowl that I made as a test piece. I didn't anticipate that these would be up to much, but they are great for internal and external clamping so that you can finish that foot. The pin jaws are also great for holding on to the inside of small boxes. On the whole, I am very happy and have no reservation recommending this Deefine chuck system to beginner turners as a first chuck.

They are all nickel plated so they won’t rust, even a not dry environment like ny garage.

My Deefine wood chuck is an essential component of my wood turning. It clamps the projects and holds them like a vice while I turn to my hearts content. I’d be completely lost with out it!

I had to send the first one back as it didn’t appear to be mailed properly. I got a replacement and it’s decent for the price. It’s no Vicmarc or Oneway but it’s also a quarter of the price. It’s a good starter chalk, but that’s about it. It does come with a lot of attachments so it’s a decent job if you need some extra attachments or a secondary check for some small work.
