These are sturdy sand/saddlebags with a beefy internal support stiffener across the top, under the handle. I've had other brands where the stiffener is thinner and ended up poking through the material after being loaded up with 25 lb of weight. These don't mind the weight at all. Just as important, they are "short", so I can use them when the tripod supports are close to the ground. The only way they could get better is with a two-velcro system (other brands often have two zippers or two different velcro fasteners). The clamps are also a nice addition.

We ordered these sand bags to use for our photo booth backdrop and flash stand and, while we haven't used them at an event yet, I can say that these are really great quality for the price!I took the advice of other reviews and filled a gallon size Ziploc bag with sand inside of these bags so sand wouldn't leak out through the seams. I was able to get about 15lbs in each set for a total of 60lbs of weight. I believe one review said they managed 25lbs, but I'm not sure how that possible.A seam on one of the bags was starting to unravel near the Velcro when I opened the package, but I don't see that being an issue or affecting the integrity of the bag.Overall, I'd definitely buy again!

This item was good quality and works for my needs. I just wish it came with plastic bag liners

When working outdoors with a stand with an umbrella or soft box, you need to have a couple sand bags to anchor the stand to keep it from falling over in the wind. I just got a bag of small pebbles from home depo, whashed and dried them (as they where moist and dirty) put them in a plastic bag and put them in these bags and they work great!!

I was surprised by the construction and sturdiness of these bags and the clamps that came with it. I will leave the carabiners out of this review, as I consider them an extra. I would not rely on them to hang 12 lb bags from. The bags have a very solid Velcro closing, but I still feel safer putting the play sand I got at the home improvement store for less than $ 5 (50 lbs) into 1 Gallon Zip Lock bags. An added bonus is that if you're on an outdoor shoot and it starts raining, your sand bags won't be soaked and twice as heavy. The bag construction features a very sturdy metal center ridge to prevent the bags to get too floppy. The quality of the handles seems to be strong enough to handle the 6 lbs I put in each compartment ( 12 lbs total).Overall, I would recommend these bags to everyone.

We have been looking for sandbags to stabilize a large set of racks used for open-air market displays. We needed sturdy, quality materials and wanted to avoid zippers that can easily break. These were perfect for our purpose. We filled gallon plastic zip bags with pea gravel, inserted them into the sandbags, then closed with the Velcro closures. (A large bag of pea gravel from a home improvement store filled three double sandbags.) The fabric is the type commonly used for soft-side suitcases, so we expect it to last. We are very pleased with this purchase.

Before these I would grab the nearest heavy thing and try to weigh down whatever was tipping. These studio sandbags have made my life so much easier. Of course they come empty. I went to Home Depot and bought a 50 lb. bag of sand for about $5.Each sandbag has two sides so I divided that bag of sand into gallon Ziploc bags of roughly 6.25 lbs. and put those Ziplocs into each side. You don't have to use plastic bags. I'm just a little OCD. But it's good, I have no sand on the floor. They have handles for carrying or handling, or even attaching to a light stand if accessible. I found an assortment of bungee cords is nice to have as well in case you have to hang one as a counterweight, or attach one firmly to something. You'll be glad you put these together.
