Bought these for 3D print inserts. Work fine, but do do it properly, you need to use inserters sized for each insert and made for soldering iron.

Having an assortment of lenghts and sizes is the way to go. Make every Job easier and the threads are good.

Inserts are brass in nature with an aggressive knurling that combined with heat or an adhesive will surely not yield up to any acceptable level of torsion or pulling force that is applied...

Some projects require inserts for assembly. These work great for the application(s) I work with, specifically 3D printing projects. I would recommend.

As other reviewers have said, this is a very good assortment, containing a good quantity of inserts for all the major metric bolts (except half-sizes), packaged in a convenient and relatively sturdy case. That's all true. The one issue I have, is I can't seem to find any guidelines for designing the holes during 3D printing. Other manufacturers publish detailed instructions for designing the heat sink holes; it's often not as simple as a cylindrical cutout (I've seen some guidelines with tapers, or multiple hole diameters). For basic instructions on designing and using these inserts, you can search for the Hackaday article on "How to use heat-set inserts". I'm still experimenting based off of other inserts' designs; you definitely want the hole depth significantly deeper than the insert (I found out the hard way; plastic oozes up through the threads, clogging them and fouling your soldering iron tip).Of course, just using a cylindrical cutout a little bit narrower and ~50% deeper will get you a working hole for the insert; however, that probably won't get you the maximum strength, and we use these inserts precisely because we need that extra holding strength. Thus, I'm a little bit frustrated. So, this is a really convenient kit, but you have to kind of wing the hole design. So for designs where you really need high strength (such as designing a 3D printer), you might consider purchasing inserts that include that documentation.

These work great for adding threads to 3d prints. They're probably not as high quality as the more expensive ones you can get from other retailers but they work.
