Easily adjusts string tension and smooth mechanics. I tested these inline tuners on a project neck to get a feel of how good they are mechanically and they are good for the price if not better. I am a Luthier and I always test out machine heads before committing to installing them. I tested them with a gauge to see if they can hold string tension and they seemed pretty solid. They are an inexpensive set and well worth the price.

These tuners are pretty good replacements for the price. They can get the job done on a beginner level instrument, but anything that's $200+ from a mainline brand will most likely have better, or equivalent stock tuners from the factory. I've found that it's not until the $500+ range that the tuner quality increases on basses. The rear screw came tight, making the turning action stiff and crunchy. A half turn of the screw to loosen it makes the peg turn smoother and nicer. I'm surprised how easily these turn when the rear gear tension screw is properly adjusted. A lot of affordable tuners don't turn freely even when adjusted.
