Better than expected, says it opens to 3.9 something inches. I have no problem opening it to over 5†and holding strong. A nice 3 1/4 square inch solid anvil. Also has that nice 360 degree base , very versatile . If you’re looking for a good solid vise, this should make you happy. I’m sure this will out last me. Buy with confidence.

Used for the second time and it just broke. Tightening wood and it just broke... ridiculous!!!!
