If you have bought these for your fencing, you know what I mean by the "Z" brand that charge over $3.75 each for these. I bought these on Amazon, hoping they would be comparable, and they are exactly the same. GET THEM! They are even individually wrapped for heaven sakes. Really, save your money and buy these instead.

The only niggle I have is the threads don't always start perfectly and you gotta try again. Other than that, didn't experience any of the "don't torque it too hard" problems others report. Didn't feel any give in them while tightening with hand wrenches.

These are not pure copper. Pure Cu will run about $5 each anywhere one buys it. These have a very thin layer of copper on top of low grade brass, which is why they are pennies apiece. No problem. They work without issue on electric rope, and they are used much more often now because of the price. Let me explain. At $5 each there is no way I would use them to connect rope over a 20 mile run. Rope just gets tied together, hoping the wires don’t break. Not ideal. I can now afford to use two of the bolt connectors at every splice, which doesn’t kink the ropes and are quick to install. There are stainless connectors out there, but they are too much money in my book. These inexpensive split bolt connectors speed up the process and are quite good conductors. Suggestion: For permanent fencing use quality rope with copper wire, instead of the usual stainless. Stainless wire is a poor conductor and is usually attached to low quality temporary style rope. I lost time and money learning the hard way. Stainless just won’t go the distance. Copper will.

For the benefit of anybody who is looking at these to use with the Zareba Polyrope or Electrobraid fencing for horse pastures, they work fine. The slot could be a half millimeter wider, but it's workable. Another consumer left feedback that the clamps cracked under force, but that didn't happen with my use of them, which is not to say the other consumer is wrong--I don't know how he used them. I suppose if they were used for heavy gauge wiring, and you really torqued them, that would be the truest test, but for horse fencing they hold up well. The clamps come out to less than $1.00, and with Tractor Supply selling the 3/16 in. zinc cable clamps at $1.49, these look good, especially when you're buying in the hundreds.

Good quality split bolts. All came in smaller packages for easy use. No issues with the product. Much cheaper than buying at Tractor Supply.Used on poly wire horse safe fencing

I used them with 1/4 inch poly rope. They fit fine. They are strong, I snugged them down using two wrenches, 9/16 and 11/16, and they took it with no evidence of weakness or tendency to crack. The electrical connections thus made were sound. I would certainly buy them again if we ever ever put in another garden. Deer and bear beware.

I want to put up a fence against those pesky raccoons during my Christmas holiday, these split bolt connectors are expensive in Home Depot and local hardware stores, found this one on Amazon cost about $1/piece, so I thought I give a try. Expedite shipping was fast, delivered before holiday, the quality of connector is great, I grind one on the grinding wheel to see the material, which is copper alloy indeed. This definitely a good buy if you have big fence project.
