What do you call a lapel pin that’s missing its backing? Trick answer: I don’t know. I suppose it would work as a stylish thumbtack (assuming you have a nice cork bulletin board to push it into), but beyond that, it’s basically worthless. That’s when having a package of JIANYI ‘s “butterfly clutch pin†replacement backs can be real handy.There are 50 pieces in this pack... I’m not sure who would possibly need that many at one sitting, but... it is what it is. At four bucks total, they work out to around eight cents apiece.These backings are silver-colored. Maybe that matters to you, maybe not. I suspect that in most cases it won’t, as the whole point of a “backing†is to be in back of something, right?In terms of construction quality, these backings are seemingly well-made, with weight and function consistent with existing OEM backings on some of the lapel pins in my dresser. They slide easily onto pins and grip them aggressively. Squeeze the wings, and they come right off. Interestingly, when I removed one of the OEM backings to test the JIANYI equivalent on that pin, I discovered that the two were identical in appearance and I was not able to distinguish one from the other.JIANYI’s lapel pin backs are not going to bring peace to the middle east or cure global hunger. But if you have one or more lapel pins whose backs are missing, this product is the solution to your problem. You might say that JIANYI has your back.
